Description

At U.S. Bank, we’re on a journey to do our best. Helping the customers and businesses we serve to make better and smarter financial decisions and enabling the communities we support to grow and succeed. We believe it takes all of us to bring our shared ambition to life, and each person is unique in their potential. A career with U.S. Bank gives you a wide, ever-growing range of opportunities to discover what makes you thrive at every stage of your career. Try new things, learn new skills and discover what you excel at—all from Day One.

The Head of Content, Experiential & External Affairs will develop, lead and execute the external marketing strategy for U.S. Bank Credit Cards(PCS), spanning Proprietary Cards (Cash, Rewards, non-rewards), Small Business, Debit, Elan and Co-Brand.

This role will serve as a senior leader and strategic advisor to PCS leadership, with responsibility for building and managing an integrated marketing platform across affiliate and content creators, influencer marketing, experiential marketing, card-lead sponsorships, product launches, and thought leadership. Working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer of Credit Cards and in partnership with Corporate Communications, Marketing, Social Media, Public Affairs, Legal, Risk and Compliance, this leader will establish the strategy, governance, processes, measurement and reporting infrastructure required to strengthen PCS card visibility, support business priorities and ensure consistent alignment with U.S. Bank enterprise communications standards.

This leader will:

Develop and lead relationships with influential credit card and personal finance personalities, industry experts, bloggers, affiliate and content creators who operate at the intersection of traditional media and social influence.

Build strategic engagement programs with credit card influencers and industry experts to support product education, launches, thought leadership and ongoing PCS storytelling.

Identify opportunities to integrate earned media, paid partnerships, owned content, media influencers, executive visibility and experiential activations to extend reach and impact.

Develop and lead experiential communications strategies supporting PCS product launches, credit-card focused media events, executive engagements and other priority business initiatives.

Lead overarching marketing strategies for major product launches, partnerships, business milestones and other key PCS initiatives.

Identify opportunities to strengthen PCS leadership positioning through proactive storytelling, thought leadership and differentiated media narratives.

Build differentiated executive platforms that strengthen visibility, credibility and thought leadership across priority audiences through executive positioning, including biographies, headshots and external profiles.

Establish a comprehensive communications measurement framework and KPIs tied to PCS business and communications objectives.

Translate communications performance data and media intelligence into actionable insights and recommendations that inform communications strategy and business decision-making.

Evaluate sponsorship and event opportunities based on strategic relevance, audience, visibility, business objectives and measurable communications value.

Ensure individual activations connect back to a consistent, cohesive PCS narrative , rather than operating as standalone communications or event opportunities.

Develop differentiated launch narratives, messaging and storytelling strategies that clearly articulate the customer value proposition and strengthen PCS’ position within the payments and credit card marketplace.

Partner closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to ensure the PCS communications strategy is integrated with broader Marketing priorities and supports the overall business agenda.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

12+ years of progressive experience in media relations, corporate communications, integrated communications, experiential marketing, external affairs or related disciplines, including significant experience advising senior executives.

Demonstrated experience developing and leading marketing and communications strategies for complex businesses, major product launches and high-profile external initiatives.

Deep relationships with national payments and credit card influencers, affiliates, and content creators, with demonstrated ability to build new relationships and generate meaningful earned media outcomes.

Experience developing executive positioning, thought leadership and external visibility strategies for senior leaders.

Experience working across earned, paid and owned channels and developing integrated communications programs spanning media, influencers, experiential activations and strategic partnerships.

Demonstrated experience managing agencies, external partners and significant communications budgets.

Strong understanding of reputation management, issues management, crisis communications and communications governance within a complex, highly regulated organization.

Exceptional executive presence, judgment, writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and operate effectively across complex matrixed organizations.
