Description

The company's Aeronautics Systems group is hiring a Staff Systems Architect Engineer to work in its Systems Engineering organization in Melbourne, FL. The role carries a Top Secret clearance requirement for start and involves about 10% travel.

You will give senior technical direction in model based systems engineering, requirements, and architecture for a complex aerospace system. The work centers on using Cameo to capture and manage system requirements, functional and physical architectures, and interfaces across the program lifecycle.

You will keep the digital system model as the single authoritative source for requirements, behaviors, and interfaces. You will work with chief engineers, integrated product teams, and specialty engineering groups to keep the architecture coherent and traceable, so it can support design decisions, mission effectiveness, and verification planning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements development, decomposition, and traceability in Cameo, turning customer and stakeholder needs into system, segment, and subsystem requirements.
  • Build and maintain operational, functional, and physical architectures using SysML and MBSE methods, including use case, activity, sequence, block definition, and internal block diagrams.
  • Bring requirements, behaviors, and interfaces together into one model that supports mission analysis, system design, and verification and validation strategy.
  • Set and enforce modeling conventions and guidelines so contributors and teams produce consistent, high quality work.
  • Coordinate architecture and requirements changes with multidisciplinary teams such as mission systems, avionics, ground systems, communications, and vehicle, and document how changes affect each discipline.
  • Produce model based views and reports for technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR, showing requirements coverage, interface definitions, and design maturity.
  • Guide, mentor, and train engineers who contribute to the model on MBSE practice and Cameo use.
  • Work with requirements and configuration management to baseline the Cameo model and keep it aligned with DOORS and DOORS Next.

Requirements

  • Basic: a Bachelor of Science in a STEM field and at least 12 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field and at least 10 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a PhD and at least 8 years of relevant military or professional experience.
  • Basic: an active US Government Secret or higher clearance, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or current enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Basic: extensive systems engineering experience, particularly in requirements development, decomposition, and architecture definition for complex systems.
  • Basic: hands on experience with Cameo/MagicDraw, or an equivalent MBSE tool, for SysML modeling, including building and maintaining system level models.
  • Basic: experience leading technical teams or work packages and explaining complex technical concepts to varied audiences, including customers and senior leadership.
  • Preferred: experience supporting mission planning and ground systems, including defining operational concepts, workflows, and interfaces between air vehicle and ground mission systems.
  • Preferred: experience defining and managing air vehicle requirements, such as performance, mission, avionics, and integration requirements, and recording them in an MBSE/Cameo model.
  • Preferred: experience with mission systems and communications architectures, including data links, networks, and interfaces between onboard systems, ground segments, and external assets.
  • Preferred: proven use of MBSE/SysML to represent mission threads, mission planning workflows, or end to end operational scenarios spanning vehicle, mission systems, and ground systems.
  • Preferred: hands on experience linking Cameo models to requirements tools such as DOORS and DOORS Next and producing traceability and coverage reports.
  • Preferred: a past role as a systems engineering or MBSE lead on a large, complex defense or aerospace program, ideally involving air vehicle, mission planning, or communications systems.
