Software Deputy Subproject Technical Lead - Level 3/4 (AHT)

Description

The company's space systems sector in Redondo Beach, CA is hiring a deputy subproject technical lead at Level 3 or Level 4.

You would lead one of the ground systems software homerooms in a large group. Each homeroom splits into swim lane teams with a specialized software focus. The work covers mission-critical and operational software product lines and new ground systems capabilities built with the customer.

Responsibilities

• Assign and manage tasks for a team of 18 to 30 software engineers.
• Support the team through management meetings and reviews.
• Coordinate with other software teams, systems engineering, external customers and site staff.
• Gather team metrics and brief higher leadership on progress.
• Keep the team working in a shifting environment while making sure people follow defined processes.
• Report to and work alongside the subproject manager.

Requirements

• Level 3: a bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, a master's with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year. An extra 4 years of experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Level 4: a bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, a master's with 6 years, or a PhD with 4 years. An extra 4 years of experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Hold an active SCI or active TS clearance when you apply, and be able to obtain SCI within a timeframe the company sets before your start date.
• Have experience leading a team of engineers.
• Manage software processes and adjudicate software Discrepancy Reports (DRs) to meet requirements.
• Communicate clearly as a leader, with people at every level from staff to management.
• Preferred: a STEM degree.
• Preferred: experience working with internal and external customers.
• Preferred: experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, BitBucket and Confluence, building DevOps pipelines, and automation.
• Highly desirable: Agile or DevOps experience, including work as a Scrum Master or Product Owner.
• Preferred: in-depth knowledge of software design and code development.
• Preferred: prior management experience as a Technical Lead.
• Preferred: experience performing CAM duties and reporting on Earned Value metrics.
• Preferred: demonstrated problem solving and decision making across large-scale products.
• A plus: Mission One experience.

Travel is about 10% of the time.

Primary level base pay runs from $114,000.00 to $171,000.00, and secondary level from $142,200.00 to $213,400.00. These are general guidelines, and the actual offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
