Description

The company is an AI analytics platform serving more than 5,200 customers. The team is headed up by DevX, which owns engineering speed: build systems, CI/CD, developer environments and internal tooling.

DevX is building a software factory, meaning automated workflows that clear manual obstacles out of the way of engineers shipping code.

The company is global and growing fast. It was founded in 2012, listed publicly through a direct listing in September 2021 under the ticker AMPL, and has offices in San Francisco (HQ), New York, Vancouver, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo.

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Set the architecture for the developer platform, lead the software factory work and move the team's development model toward cloud-first workflows.
  • Work with little oversight and high impact. Take initiatives from a vague problem through to production, and set technical direction for a core team.
  • Unify and scale local, remote and ephemeral development environments across a polyglot codebase. Make provisioning, building, testing, debugging and validating changes fast and reliable for engineers and AI agents, with reproducible test data and clear access controls.
  • Find the largest bottleneck in the engineering workflow, automate it, then repeat with the next one. Increasingly, build sandboxes and tooling that let AI agents do the work themselves.
  • Own build systems, CI/CD, developer environments and internal tooling. Reduce build and CI time, deploy risk and feedback latency.
  • Set direction and standards, turn unclear problems into roadmaps, and mentor senior and staff engineers through design reviews and pairing.

Requirements

  • Staff-level engineering experience and impact.
  • Full-stack skills with a leaning toward infrastructure, and strong backend and systems experience.
  • Experience moving a team's development workflow to the cloud, using VMs, remote environments, preview branches or sandboxes.
  • A record of shipping developer tooling or platform infrastructure that measurably sped up engineering.
  • Hands-on experience building agentic or AI-powered engineering workflows, with responsible human oversight.
  • Good judgment, clear writing, and the ability to build alignment without formal authority.
  • Experience with monorepo tooling or large-scale platform migrations.
  • Experience with agent harness infrastructure such as eval frameworks, orchestration or LLM sandboxing.
  • 8+ years of experience.
