Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, Enterprise Foundation

The Enterprise Foundation team builds the core capabilities large customers depend on to run the platform at scale: permissions and access control, enterprise identity and administration, alerts, exports and shared services.

You will work alongside a product manager and a designer to define, build and launch features and platform capabilities that make the product secure, governable and dependable for very large organizations. You will help set technical and product direction and take work from early design through to reliable, fast, well-designed experiences.

The engineers focus on customers and on hard problems where correctness and reliability matter. Because many customers and teams depend on these systems, the team plans for reliability, migrations, support and incident response alongside roadmap work.

The team's goal is to build enterprise-grade foundations that let customers adopt and grow on the platform with confidence, while driving infrastructure work that strengthens and scales the product.

The company was founded in 2012, listed publicly through a direct listing in September 2021 under the ticker AMPL, and has offices in San Francisco (HQ), New York, Vancouver, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo. The company has said it invests in mentorship, management training and wellness programs for its staff.

Responsibilities

• Work with product management and design to turn the needs of enterprise customers into well-scoped engineering solutions
• Own projects from design through rollout, migration and ongoing operation
• Design and build reliable services and APIs, paying close attention to security, correctness and blast radius
• Take part in on-call rotations, incident response and the long-term reliability of the systems the team owns
• Contribute to performance optimization and scaling work
• Lead the highest-leverage projects and help shape the team's technical direction
• Mentor other engineers and help them succeed

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and improving robust, scalable backends and interactive, user-facing applications
• Understanding of the full stack and data flow of user-facing web applications
• Backend experience with application backends, microservices and high-throughput systems
• Experience with, or a strong interest in, authentication, authorization, permissions models or other enterprise-grade platform capabilities
• A record of safely migrating and evolving critical systems with minimal customer impact
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, the ability to adapt to changing requirements, and a proven record of delivering results
• The ability to combine customer input with architectural knowledge to have an outsized engineering impact
• A constant drive to learn and grow in web development
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and strong skills in automated testing
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, Python, NestJS and Temporal
• Interest in or experience with technical leadership of an engineering team

Conditions

Hybrid role based in San Francisco, California or Vancouver, Canada

Colorado base salary range: $150,000 - $207,000, inclusive of bonus or commission, for people who will work in Colorado

New York City base salary range: $167,000 - $230,000, inclusive of bonus or commission, for people who will work in New York City

California base salary range: $167,000 - $230,000, inclusive of bonus or commission, for people who will work in California

Washington state base salary range: $150,000 - $207,000, inclusive of bonus or commission, for people who will work in Washington state
