This Full-stack Engineer 5 role is a Senior Manager, IC level position in the MLX Group and will help drive a major transformation across the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead a set of varied technology projects and a team of developers skilled in distributed microservices and full stack systems, building solutions for regulatory needs.
• Provide technical leadership across several teams, shaping system architecture and long-term technology direction.
• Drive end-to-end design and build of large-scale, distributed or cloud-native systems that must be highly reliable and fast.
• Work with digital product managers to deliver sturdy cloud-based solutions that support millions of Americans in reaching financial empowerment.
• Use languages including Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript, open source relational and NoSQL databases, container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, and multiple AWS services.
• Partner with architects and product leaders on platform roadmaps and shared services strategy.
• Keep up with technology trends, try new tools, take part in internal and external communities, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Basic: bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics or engineering.
• Basic: at least 6 years of software engineering experience. Internships do not count.
• Basic: at least 3 years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Preferred: 9+ years coding in more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C and Scala.
• Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
• Preferred: 5+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
• Preferred: 5+ years building synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• Preferred: 4+ years with databases and database management systems.
• Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: 4+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and automated testing frameworks.
• Preferred: 4+ years with Git-based version control such as Git, GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
• Preferred: 3+ years mentoring senior engineers and guiding career growth within technical teams.
• Preferred: 2+ years using observability to find and remove performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Preferred: 1+ year leading architecture design reviews and shaping enterprise-wide technical standards and methods.
• Preferred: 1+ year setting and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
• Preferred: 1+ year putting observability and reliability practices in place at scale.
• Preferred: experience with modern AI coding tools and IDE copilots.
• Preferred: experience with interactive AI tools that go beyond basic code completion to boost productivity.
• Preferred: experience shaping technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level.
• Preferred: experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large technical initiatives.

Conditions

Annual full-time base pay ranges by location: Sales Territory and Richmond, VA are $209,000 to $238,500; Cambridge, MA and McLean, VA are $229,900 to $262,400; New York, NY and San Jose, CA are $250,800 to $286,200.

These ranges apply only to candidates hired to work in those locations and show the most the company will pay at the time of posting.

Candidates hired in other locations get that location's range, and the exact salary appears in the offer letter.

Part-time pay is prorated based on the agreed number of regular hours.
