Description

The company's OS Verification group is looking for a staff embedded test engineer to help raise the quality of next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) platforms.

You will lead OS verification work that checks software and features against the company's standards for function, system quality, security, performance and architecture.

You will guide test planning, execution, automation and quality reporting, working with component developers, external system stakeholders, and sustaining and integration teams. You will set verification strategies, write and run automated and manual test cases, and drive end-to-end test execution for complex software systems.

The role calls for systems thinking, deep test engineering skill, and the ability to align quality efforts across several teams. You will shape scalable validation strategies, widen automation coverage, and make testing more efficient so customers get reliable IVI experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure applications meet the company's software and feature standards for function, system behaviour, quality, security, performance and architecture.
  • Lead test planning, execution and quality reporting for software applications, working with component developers, external system stakeholders, and sustaining and integration groups.
  • Write and implement automated and manual test cases and test execution plans.
  • Review business and software requirements, design verification plans, run tests, log defects, and report test metrics and status to project teams.
  • Work closely with architects, system engineers, developers, and project and program managers to deliver projects on time and at the highest quality.
  • Help keep resource use across a functional area well balanced, and flag constraints and bandwidth limits when they arise.
  • Share information and clarify direction with managers, technical leads and peers. Lead projects, build, automate and run test plans, and help improve test strategy and process.
  • Analyse business and system requirements and produce accurate test estimates.
  • Manage work across several projects and lead all testing on a feature or project.
  • Create test cases that can run manually when needed but are designed to be automated, and write the supporting automation scripts with industry-standard tools and coding practice.
  • Run manual and automated tests, troubleshoot scripts and test environment issues, triage and log defects, and track progress against plan.
  • Log, track and confirm the resolution of requirement and software defects.
  • Review test plans written by others and give useful feedback.
  • Produce test and project metrics, and speak clearly about quality concerns and test blockers.
  • Create test execution plans, organise and manage test suites, and propose improvements to testing through tools, techniques and process changes.
  • Act as subject matter expert for the component, system and business process domain.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to the company's values and cultural behaviours, and model them to help build a winning culture.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of embedded software test experience, with a background in mobile or automotive industries.
  • 4+ years of platform and embedded testing experience.
  • Strong programming skills in common languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience validating platform and system designs.
  • Strong experience building test automation tools and writing scripts, and comfortable testing manually when needed.
  • Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methods and tools.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication.
  • Self-motivated and curious, able to deliver on time, learn quickly, and work in a fast-paced, flexible setting.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Scrum or Agile software development.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub and Artifactory.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of embedded software test experience, with a background in embedded IoT or automotive industries.
  • Preferred: Strong problem-solving, analytical, coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub and Artifactory.
  • Preferred: Product development or testing experience in the automotive domain.
