The company's product teams build vehicles and in-vehicle experiences meant to be felt as well as seen, spanning hardware, battery systems, design, software, safety and entertainment.
The work aims to make driving safer, smarter and more connected, and the products move millions of people every day.
This role covers two core parts of the in-vehicle experience: privacy, and identity with authentication.
Responsibilities
Set the product vision, strategy and roadmap for how customers understand, control and protect their personal information and identity inside the vehicle.
Privacy covers clear consent, privacy education, privacy settings, temporary privacy modes, customer data requests and compliance with applicable privacy rules.
Identity and authentication covers driver and passenger recognition, in-vehicle profiles, digital key and key fob linking, near-field communication access, profile security, PINs and secure access to personalized features.
Build simple, consistent experiences across the vehicle display, mobile app, customer account, digital key, the in-vehicle connected service, voice assistant partners and other connected services.
Set long-term direction and lead complex initiatives from definition through delivery, launch and ongoing improvement.
Define and communicate the vision for in-vehicle privacy, identity, driver and passenger recognition and authentication.
Set simple, consistent approaches to trust, consent, personalization, profile protection and secure vehicle access across the company's vehicles.
Turn customer needs, research, privacy and security requirements and technical limits into clear product direction.
Build a roadmap that spans current and next-generation vehicle systems.
Own the strategy for an in-vehicle privacy experience that is clear, easy to find and centered on the customer.
Move from scattered privacy controls to a company-owned vehicle privacy center offering education, detailed settings, temporary privacy modes and data request tools.
Lead consent flows that explain in plain language the customer benefit, what data is used, how it is used, how to control it and what happens if the customer declines.
Define temporary privacy controls covering location, personal data, camera and voice features and mobile access, without changing everyday preferences unnecessarily.
Align work on consumer privacy, data protection and anti-stalking requirements.
Work with legal, privacy, security, safety, design, engineering, connected-service, mobile and voice partner teams to close gaps in policy, data, consent and implementation.
Set the strategy for driver and passenger profiles that make the vehicle personal, secure and easy to use.
Define how digital keys, key fobs, NFC-enabled devices or cards, manual selection and other signals identify the right driver or passenger.
Design experiences for several detected devices, unrecognized devices, guest use, profile switching and cases where the system cannot confidently identify the driver.
Lead linking and unlinking of digital keys, key fobs and NFC devices or cards to customer profiles.
Define secure profile access and extra authentication using PINs, patterns, mobile confirmation, biometrics or other approved methods.
Shape how profile protection relates to vehicle PIN security, vehicle access, theft deterrence, valet mode, teen driver experiences, emergency interactions and other driving situations.
Make sure customers can tell when they have been recognized, check or correct the active profile, recover from an unrecognized device and never see another driver's personal information.
Coordinate with vehicle access, identity, security, mobile, connected-service, voice and vehicle-system teams for clear end-to-end experiences.
Lead discovery, prioritization and delivery across the vehicle, mobile app, cloud services, customer account and partner services.
Create and maintain roadmaps, priorities, detailed product plans and launch plans.
Set clear decisions and responsibilities across product, engineering, user experience, human factors, testing, legal, privacy, security, safety, marketing and program management.
Make calls on scope, sequencing, trade-offs, dependencies, risks and launch readiness across several vehicle programs and software versions.
Build alignment with senior leaders and influence teams you do not manage in a complex organization.
Make sure customer-facing content and interactions are clear, consistent, accessible, localized and suited to the context of driving.
Lead post-launch evaluation and ongoing improvement using customer feedback, research, product usage, support and operational data.
Set measures for privacy understanding, confidence in privacy controls, awareness of the privacy center, meaningful privacy actions, content readability and compliance.
Define identity and authentication measures: recognition speed and accuracy, profile loading performance, manual profile switching, guest profile selection, device linking success, security prompt completion and authentication failures.
Use data and customer insight to find friction, privacy risk, wrong recognition, unauthorized access risk and chances to simplify.
Keep privacy, identity, authentication and personalization experiences consistent as new features, laws, vehicle systems and partner capabilities arrive.
