Description

The company is the company, a maker of precision timing semiconductors. Its MEMS-based devices are used in more than 400 applications, including AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT, and more than 4 billion have shipped.

The team is hiring a senior engineer to independently design, build and maintain software for semiconductor test systems and engineering infrastructure. The work sits between software and electronic hardware, so you will spend time on both.

The role is mainly software engineering. Experience with electronic circuit or board design is useful but not required.

The company wants someone who can turn unclear requirements into dependable, maintainable software, make sound architecture choices, and track down problems that span hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of substantial software components and systems, covering architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and long-term upkeep.
  • Design modular interfaces for instruments, fixtures, embedded controllers and several hardware setups.
  • Build and improve automated test applications for engineering labs and manufacturing.
  • Find and fix difficult hardware-software faults using code debugging, logs, measurement data and bench test equipment.
  • Design for concurrency, resource ownership, fault recovery, data integrity and testability.
  • Work with hardware, validation and manufacturing engineers, including helping deploy software at global production sites.
  • Raise code quality through reviews, automated tests, documentation, and continuous integration and delivery.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of relevant software engineering experience, or an equivalent record of substantial software you designed, shipped and maintained yourself.
  • Proven ownership of software systems, including architecture decisions, implementation and ongoing support.
  • Strong Python skills and working knowledge of at least one of C, C++ or C. Depth and proven results count for more than the number of languages you know.
  • Hands-on experience integrating software with electronic hardware and methodically troubleshooting issues across that boundary.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and component datasheets.
  • Hands-on use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers or similar electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs, work independently and communicate clearly across engineering teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for production support, about one month per year.
  • Preferred: experience with instrument-control or data-acquisition systems in lab or production settings.
  • Preferred: experience with embedded controllers, FPGAs, device drivers or hardware abstraction layers.
  • Preferred: experience using serial communication protocols to connect embedded systems and peripherals.
  • Preferred: experience with semiconductor test, automated test equipment or manufacturing systems.
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD, monitoring and production software reliability.
  • Preferred: experience designing electronic circuits or printed circuit boards.
  • Application: include a short example of a system or feature you personally designed and delivered, covering the problem, your contribution, a key design decision, how you tested it and the result. Clear evidence of ownership is valued more than a long list of tools.

Conditions

Compensation is competitive and set by location, experience, education and training. The base salary range is $99,900 to $137,370 USD.

The role is eligible for a quarterly bonus linked to innovation goals, and the company offers equity grants.
