This is a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (Production Engineer) role on the Zero Trust Exchange team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Site Reliability Engineering, based in Santa Clara, CA on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Keep large bare-metal Linux and BSD fleets, Kubernetes clusters and custom routing stacks highly available, working with Engineering and Networking.
• Lead incident response from start to finish, troubleshooting across the stack with low-level OS and network tools such as strace, lsof, tcpdump, iostat, vmstat and gdb.
• Automate infrastructure lifecycle work, service provisioning, configuration and release deployments with Ansible, Python and Go. Measure recurring manual toil and turn it into version-controlled, testable automation, tracking the reduction as a result.
• Own metrics, logs and traces with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry. Define and enforce SLOs and error budgets to cut alert noise.
• Run architectural reviews, OS and kernel upgrades, capacity and performance tuning, and strict CI/CD validation before production rollouts. Build telemetry, rollback safety and SLO readiness into service design from the start.

• Foundational understanding of AI and ML technologies, and experience using, securing or positioning AI-driven solutions to improve results in your area.
• 3+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering or Systems Engineering on high-scale, low-latency production platforms.
• You can write and debug code live in Python, Go or Bash, including core logic and data structures, and have hands-on experience writing Ansible playbooks and tasks.
• Deep knowledge of Linux OS internals and kernel troubleshooting, such as inodes, open file descriptors, process states and explaining df versus du storage discrepancies.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols and packet-level analysis, including DNS resolution, TLS handshakes, TCP/IP mechanics and packet captures with tcpdump.
• Preferred: hands-on experience running FreeBSD or other BSD systems in production.
• Preferred: proven experience running, scaling and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in high-traffic, low-latency environments, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal.
• Preferred: deep experience with the Prometheus and OpenTelemetry ecosystems, or with AI/ML frameworks or AIOps tools for automated root-cause analysis.

Conditions

Hybrid role: onsite three days a week in Santa Clara, CA.

Full-time position.

Base pay range: $118,400 to $148,000 USD. This excludes bonus, commission, equity (if applicable) and benefits. Final pay depends on skills, experience, education or training, and the range covers all US locations and may be higher or lower.
