Description

The company is a global infrastructure consulting firm working across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, with more than 50,000 staff and $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025.

This contract provides staff augmentation and engineering support to OC San's capital and smaller project work, and the role sits within it as a senior project manager for municipal water and wastewater.

The role is hybrid: you report to OC San's Fountain Valley office 2-3 days per week and may work remotely the rest of the time, as suits the work.

You will manage multiple water and wastewater projects at once, from a program level, and work with a range of stakeholders. Strong experience with municipal water or wastewater infrastructure and owner-side delivery is essential.

You will work with OC San staff, the company's technical teams, and outside consultants and contractors to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with OC San standards and goals. You may take on large, complex capital projects and will independently run one or more moderately complex ones.

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver municipal water and wastewater capital and smaller projects at program level.
  • Independently run one or more moderately complex projects from planning to closeout, covering scope, schedule, budget and risk.
  • Coordinate and oversee every phase of your assigned projects so they finish on time, on budget and within scope.
  • Provide owner-side project management support, including project controls, scheduling, cost tracking, estimating, procurement coordination and change management.
  • Direct and coordinate the work of the company's technical staff, subconsultants and other support resources.
  • Work directly with OC San project managers, engineers, operations staff and leadership.
  • Identify, assess and reduce project risks, and resolve issues early to limit effects on cost, schedule and quality.
  • Review design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documents, providing quality control oversight.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Prepare project documents such as correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, schedules and status updates.
  • Support contractors during construction on RFIs, submittals and issue resolution.
  • You may guide and oversee mid-level and junior engineers or project managers on your projects.
  • Work with the company's regional teams as needed to meet OC San program goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements: a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field, plus 6 years of water or wastewater engineering and design experience, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting. Equivalent experience or education may be accepted.
  • A valid driver's license, and you must pass the company's motor vehicle records review.
  • Preferred: a master's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Preferred: registration as a Professional Engineer in California, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • Preferred: strong written and spoken communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: a strong work ethic and professional manner.
  • Preferred: you act on assignments without being asked and show initiative.
  • Preferred: you can work independently with little supervision and handle several technical tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Preferred: proficiency with CAD and design software such as Civil 3D, Bentley Design Suites, WaterCAD, SewerCAD and ArcGIS.
