Sprinkler Designer Remote

Description

You will be a Fire Sprinkler Designer on the company's fire protection teams, which design sprinkler systems that meet code, stay safe, and can be built practically in the field for customers.

The role centres on producing detailed CAD drawings that place sprinkler products and systems efficiently. It mixes design drafting, hydraulic calculations, field checks, and day-to-day coordination with district contracting teams and installation crews.

This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed CAD drawings that show where sprinkler components go.
• Read construction documents, site conditions, and architectural details so the system design matches the building.
• Apply NFPA standards to layout and design, taking into account building type, construction type, hazard class, and architectural features.
• Lay out sprinkler systems in AutoCAD-based design software.
• Route sprinkler piping around other building systems.
• Run hydraulic calculations to confirm system performance and guide layout choices.
• Check completed designs in the field to confirm they are accurate before installation starts.
• Work with district contracting teams on customer contracts, design timing, and what installation crews need for delivery.
• Arrange material deliveries to the job site so installation can begin on the best date.
• Coach others on producing accurate sprinkler designs, drawing on your experience, skill, and product knowledge.
• Help the sales team with design estimates when needed.
• Apply NFPA standards carefully and consistently so each design fits the building, its hazard class, and the project's requirements.
• Keep in regular contact with contracting teams, field crews, and sales so designs stay in step with installation needs.
• Check accuracy in the field and fix design problems early to cut rework and keep installation moving.
• Pass on what you know, use practical judgment to solve problems, and help the team deliver better projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• Working experience with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Sprinkler Design Software, or comparable sprinkler design software.
• Ability to solve basic math problems, including geometry and algebra.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, Sprinkler Design Software, and a hydraulic calculation program.
• Ability to read and apply the relevant NFPA standards for automatic sprinkler system layout.
• NICET Level III in Water-Based Systems Layout.

Conditions

The hourly range is $36.58-$54.85. The exact rate depends on your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data.

The posted range is the target pay for this role. Candidates whose background goes well beyond the typical profile are encouraged to apply and be considered above the range.

The work is remote.
