Software Test Automation Co-Op

Description

You will join the team that designs, builds, integrates and tests software for security products, working alongside product and development staff to define test cases that meet project requirements.

You will be placed in a cross-functional group of software engineers, test engineers and product managers and will own assigned software tasks from design through development, integration and testing.

The company builds intrusion detection systems, including sensors, control panels, software and communications products.

Responsibilities

• Help build test automation or the infrastructure that supports it for a new cloud-native security panel ecosystem.
• Verify automated tests across software and embedded firmware platforms.
• Review the results of repeatability and reliability studies.
• Diagnose faults in the product and in test equipment, then propose and apply fixes.
• Use data to track product performance, produce trend reports and analyze test results.

Requirements

• You must be working toward a BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or another technology-related field.
• You must have software development experience in Python.
• You must be willing and able to take ownership of your work, working independently in an organized, structured way.
• You should have a high level of self-motivation, a drive to keep developing your skills, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts, including unit and integration testing and automating test procedures, is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills are preferred, including the ability to analyze existing code and use software tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences are preferred.
• Knowledge of Agile development methods is preferred.
• Experience writing C or C++ for real-time embedded systems using OOP principles is preferred.
• Experience in software development on Linux, Android OS or Azure is preferred.

Conditions

This is a full-time position with a U.S. hourly pay range of $25.00 to $26.00 per hour.

Pay within that range depends on factors such as work experience, job knowledge, role complexity and job location.

The role is based in Fairport, NY, the company's primary site for research and development, engineering, quality and product management.
