Description

The company's NGP Ground program is hiring a software systems engineer who works across several disciplines at once.

You will review and sign off verification evidence in DOORs and write verification summaries there.

You will develop, analyse, split, assign, trace and verify software requirements for complex systems, so they are sound, testable and traceable and meet program, customer, regulatory and internal process rules.

You will help the product vision and statement of work succeed, keep software deliveries on schedule, and support the R&V Lead directly.

You will apply disciplined systems and software engineering practice to turn system and subsystem needs into clear software requirements and verification artifacts. The work calls for sound technical judgment and close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Review integration and test work from a software requirements and verification angle, checking that the evidence backs each requirement.
  • Review software test procedures, software test and demo evidence from RFRs, and analysis reports.
  • Gather formal test evidence against software requirements so sign-off can go ahead.
  • Check that requirements are clear, correct, complete, consistent, feasible, verifiable and traceable.
  • Split higher-level software requirements into component-level requirements where implementation and testing need them.
  • Maintain two-way traceability across higher-level requirements, component requirements, verification methods and test results.
  • Build automated tests for software requirements. Formal runs are witnessed by the customer.
  • Review CDRLs and prepare them for delivery.
  • Work with subject matter and technology experts to carry out the software systems engineering statement of work.
  • Prepare contract documents and work products for delivery.
  • Work with other teams to deliver the product strategy and roadmap.
  • Help manage the product backlog, iteration planning and writing of user stories.
  • Grow software verification practice, working closely with SMEs so the content meets delivery needs.

Requirements

  • Active DOD Secret clearance.
  • Eight years of experience with a bachelor's degree in a STEM field, six years with a master's degree in STEM, or four years with a PhD in STEM.
  • Currently performing at Grade T04.
  • Previous experience reviewing software R&V evidence.
  • Experience using DOORs and updating content in it.
  • Experience writing software verification procedures.
  • Experience reviewing software application and system logs for content.
  • Experience developing, decomposing, allocating and tracing software requirements.
  • Experience supporting software verification, such as verification planning, procedure development, software test case review or results evaluation.
  • Experience working in a formal development environment with configuration management and controlled baselines.
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle and technical review process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical material clearly to integrated software product teams.
  • Preferred: active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Preferred: Eagle-3 Bus experience.
  • Preferred: Cornerstone Software experience.
  • Preferred: Python scripting experience.
  • Preferred: Robot Framework scripting experience.
