Customer Quality Engineer

Description

The role sits in the global quality organization and acts as the internal voice of the customer on quality matters.

You will be the main customer-facing contact for quality, owning each customer's quality requirements and helping the company deliver a strong quality experience.

You will work across sales, field application engineers and internal partners to keep quality and reliability issues aligned and to build lasting customer relationships.

The company develops memory and storage products, including solid state drives (SSDs), for the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

• Represent customers' needs internally and push for strong technical standards.
• Own quality management for SSDs, covering production DPM, defects on arrival, warranty returns and field quality issues at customer sites.
• Track customer metrics and lead the customer quality scorecard and its improvement work.
• Spot quality and reliability issues early and use them to strengthen customer relationships.
• Work directly with customers and their supplier quality (SQE) teams.
• Pass customer issues on to the internal engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Use artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics to find quality trends, speed up root cause analysis and drive proactive improvements.
• Prepare weekly quality data, join the weekly quality review with customers, and present the company's quality position at quarterly business reviews.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Understand the main SSD components (memory, firmware, system, ASIC and DRAM) well enough to link failures seen at the customer to the SSD.
• Know semiconductor fabrication and back-end assembly well enough to confirm quality gates are in place and that shipped product meets the highest standard.
• Communicate quality status clearly to executives and to customers.
• Stay organized across several tasks, solve problems and build good working relationships.
• Work with multi-functional teams to turn their needs into concrete plans, results and resource requirements.
• Encouraged: prior experience in customer quality, supplier quality or field applications engineering.

Conditions

This is a full-time position based in the United States, with a base salary range of $114,000.00 to $195,000.00 per year.

The base salary range covers base pay only. Bonuses, equity and benefits are additional and may apply.

Pay within the range depends on location, role, level, knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and education or training, and the range may change with business needs.
