Software/Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Description

The company builds mission systems for global security and works on defense products and capabilities for the warfighter, using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices as part of an enterprise-wide digital transformation.

The team is hiring embedded software engineers to design, develop, operate and maintain software and firmware for engineering, scientific and manufacturing needs in the Targeting, RF and MSS Business Units.

The role can be filled at the Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer level, and you will work with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support staff.

This is not an open requisition. Candidates who express interest may be considered for future openings that come up frequently.

Relocation assistance may be available. A Secret clearance is required to start, and the role involves travel 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Apply suitable standards, processes, procedures and tools across the full system development life cycle, covering requirements, design, coding, testing and integration.
• Support the creation of engineering applications and products.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

Requirements

• For Software Engineer: a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar engineering discipline with at least 2+ years of engineering experience, or a master's degree in one of those disciplines, or no degree with an additional 4 years of experience.
• For Principal Software Engineer: a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar engineering discipline with at least 5+ years of engineering experience, or a master's degree in one of those disciplines with at least 3+ years of engineering experience, or no degree with an additional 4 years of experience.
• Object-oriented programming in C++.
• Experience developing embedded software on Linux or VxWorks operating systems.
• US citizenship.
• A current, active Secret clearance before you start.
• Preferred: experience with object-oriented programming in C++11.
• Preferred: knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash and Batch.
• Preferred: experience with software development methodologies and frameworks such as Waterfall and/or Agile.
• Preferred: experience testing, debugging and integrating embedded software on target hardware.
• Preferred: experience with complex systems using parallel processing, multi-threading, distributed processing, multi-core, system-on-chip and secure processing.
• Preferred: an active Secret clearance.
• Preferred: demonstrated leadership, teamwork, interpersonal communication skills and related activities.

Conditions

Full-time, on-site at the Rolling Meadows, IL location.

Base salary range for the primary level is $87,600.00 to $131,400.00. Final pay depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
