The team runs and maintains complex tactical communication systems for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program at Robins AFB, Warner Robins, GA.

The team is small and multidisciplinary, and the company is a mission systems provider for global security, building secure, integrated, multi-domain systems plus battle management and cyber solutions.

The role may be filled at Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer level, and it is a chance to deepen your technical skills across engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site technical support during operation and maintenance of a complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication system.
• Support the flight line with preflight system tests and payload configuration.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on hardware and software components.
• Use engineering drawings for troubleshooting and system analysis.
• Administer Linux servers and clients, Windows 10, network-attached storage devices and Linux virtual machines.
• Perform COMSEC key management.
• Manage a large inventory of spare parts.
• Handle all shipping and receiving work with government and company entities.
• Work closely with the active duty government customer and internal Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
• Learn fast and troubleshoot a wide range of military voice and data services on a small team.

Requirements

• Field Engineer: bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in place of the degree.
• Principal Field Engineer: bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in place of the degree.
• Obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification within 9 months of your start date.
• Experience operating military radios or communications systems.
• Experience handling COMSEC materials, following security guidance and procedures, and operating the Simple Key Loader (SKL).
• General knowledge of Linux.
• General knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routers, switches and firewalls.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.
• Able and willing to lift up to 50 pounds and carry boxes and equipment for warehousing and inventory control.
• Willing to work flexible shifts during exercises or operations, up to a 12-hour workday, which may include weekends.
• US citizenship and a current, active U.S. Government Secret security clearance are required.
• Preferred: DoD 8570 IAT Level II or greater, meaning CompTIA Security+ plus a Computing Environment (CE) certification such as CCNA, CCNP or CompTIA Linux+.
• Preferred: hands-on Linux administration experience.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with networking devices, including routers, switches and firewalls.
• Preferred: hands-on experience operating PRC-117, ARC-210, SADL and MIDS JTRS radios.
• Preferred: broad experience operating, configuring and maintaining military communications systems and radios.
• Preferred: strong knowledge of military tactical data links (Link 16, JREAP-C), radio operations (load, program and troubleshoot) and RF theory.
• Preferred: experience with military aircraft operations.

Conditions

Location: Robins AFB in the Warner Robins, GA area.

A Secret clearance is required before you start.

Travel is 25% of the time. The posting also states travel up to 15%.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Shift work during exercises or operations of up to 12 hours, with weekends on occasion.

Primary level base salary range: $65,500.00 - $98,300.00. Secondary level base salary range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00. These ranges are a general guide; base pay depends on scope and responsibilities, plus experience, education, skills and market conditions.
