Description

The company is hiring a field engineer to support federal facility assessments, construction oversight and quality control on hurricane recovery work in Kauai, Hawaii.

You will link engineering recommendations to what happens on site as teams assess damaged buildings, roofs, envelopes, utilities and related infrastructure, moving work from emergency protection and water mitigation to permanent repairs.

Assignments may cover weatherproofing, interior water damage repairs, debris clearance, utility restoration and infrastructure recovery.

The company is a Fortune 500 infrastructure firm with $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025 and over 50,000 staff, working in water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings from advisory work through construction management.

The company offers training and development programs to build technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Record damage findings on site using observations, measurements, photos and sketches to support repair scopes and engineering advice.
  • Check materials, workmanship and finished repairs against approved drawings, specifications, engineering recommendations and quality requirements.
  • Watch subcontractor work and progress, flag defects or departures from plan, and work with engineering and construction leads to resolve them.
  • Go over drawings, specifications and recommendations with field crews to clear up technical points and open questions.
  • Route RFIs, submittals, field questions, inspections and testing between engineers, construction managers, subcontractors and qualified testing staff.
  • Spot unexpected site conditions or technical problems and send them for further engineering review.
  • Keep accurate field and quality records, including inspection reports, photos, checklists, field notes, deficiency logs and corrective action records.
  • Log nonconforming work, report it, drive corrective actions and confirm fixes through follow-up inspections.
  • Help with quantity checks, material tracking, progress reports and coordination of construction and restoration work.
  • Support emergency weatherproofing, water damage mitigation, envelope and roof restoration, interior repairs, debris clearance, utility restoration and related infrastructure work as assigned.
  • Help with punch lists, final inspections, as-built records, turnover documents and project closeout.
  • Follow site safety rules, quality procedures and facility access protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum: a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, plus 4+ years of field or construction engineering on facility or infrastructure projects. Demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education is accepted in place of this.
  • Minimum: a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check under company policy.
  • Minimum: US citizenship, required because of the nature of the work.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of field or construction engineering supporting facility repairs, utility work or infrastructure construction.
  • Preferred: experience with federal facility projects, damage assessments, emergency repairs and coordinating multiple technical disciplines.
  • Preferred: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

The role is onsite in Kauai, Hawaii.

Per diem for related expenses may be available when appropriate.

Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a company office location as a condition of employment, part of the company's effort to keep hiring secure and free of fraud.

Benefits

  • Depending on employment status, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D and disability coverage.
  • Also available: paid time off, leaves of absence, voluntary benefits, perks, flexible work options and well-being resources.
