Description

The company's defense systems unit is hiring an experienced Systems Engineer for its Armament Systems team in Plymouth, Minnesota.

The role centres on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and building system architectures for next-generation armament systems.

Systems engineering here shapes program strategy and owns the creation, evolution and upkeep of system architectures across the whole program lifecycle.

The position may be filled at Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3) or Sr Principal Systems Engineer (Level 4), depending on your education and experience.

The role is key to making sure armament systems meet demanding technical specifications and perform well in real operating environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement system architectures for complex armament systems using MBSE methods and tools.
  • Capture and refine capabilities, performance requirements and key technical attributes for the systems in scope.
  • Identify and document design constraints, technology maturity and compliance drivers that match customer specifications.
  • Build detailed definitions and models of external interfaces so systems and subsystems can integrate.
  • Help define implementation approaches and operational concepts (CONOPS), focusing on usability, mission effectiveness and interoperability.
  • Work with systems engineers, specialty engineers and customers to verify requirements and assess system performance against mission needs.

Requirements

  • Level 3: a bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline and 5+ years of systems engineering experience, including MBSE and/or systems architecture; or a master's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline with typically 3+ years of experience.
  • Level 4: a bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline and 8+ years of systems engineering experience, including MBSE and/or systems architecture; or a master's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline with typically 7+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and engineering data management tools.
  • Experience with Cameo System Modeler or Cameo Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with MBSE practices.
  • Experience with the Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Experience with the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Level 4 only, highly desired: technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and influencing architecture decisions across cross-functional teams.

Conditions

Travel is required for about 10% of the time.

No security clearance is needed to start, but a DoD Secret clearance must be obtainable.

Relocation assistance may be available.

The posted salary range is a general guide. Final base pay depends on the scope and responsibilities of the role and on your experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

  • Vice President and Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • Health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
