Principal Technical Editor and Writer - Product Support

Description

The company's Aeronautics Systems group has an opening for a Principal Technical Editor and Writer in Product Support, joining a team of qualified people to work onsite at the Grand Sky Facility in Emerado, North Dakota.

Responsibilities

• Write, rewrite and edit technical documents such as procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications and related publications, so that technical content is clear to a broad audience, including military personnel.
• Build your own subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, watching production methods, and studying technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations and trade journals.
• Take an active part in overseeing illustrations, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
• Carry out quality reviews of technical manuals.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or 1 year with a PhD.
• Experience authoring IETM data modules and developing them to Spec1000D.
• Experience working within the MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-3048, MIL-STD-1808 and Tech Manual Style Guide constraints.
• Authoring experience with Arbortext, SGML and/or XML software, the Astoria Navigator common source database, and IETM publication development processes.
• Skill in writing maintenance procedures, including descriptive, fault isolation, fault reporting, operational, procedural and non-procedural, repair and scheduled maintenance procedures, plus avionics, electrical and mechanical maintenance manuals.
• Familiarity using Illustration Part Breakdown (IPB) and the SpecView IETM viewer to publish and check the accuracy of authored content.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Willingness to travel to customer-designated locations for verification events.
• Preferred: hands-on maintenance experience with RQ4 unmanned aircraft and/or ground segment systems, such as USAF Global Hawk, FMS ROK and Japan, NATO AGS and MQ-4 Triton programs, which is highly desirable.
• Preferred: experience with the IETM Operations and Maintenance Manual (OMM), its development process, and Customer Validation and Verification (CVV) events.
• Preferred: experience with development processes for Time Compliant Technical Orders (TCTOs).
• Preferred: lead writer experience applying AGILE and JIRA best practices.

Conditions

No clearance is required to start, and the clearance type is Secret.

Travel is required about 10% of the time.

The role is onsite at the Grand Sky Facility in Emerado, North Dakota.

The primary level base salary range is $73,900.00 to $110,900.00. This is a general guideline, and the final offer depends on the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
