Description

The company powers payments and financial services in more than 200+ countries and territories, aiming to make transactions secure, simple, smart and accessible for people, businesses and governments.

The AI Platform Engineering team builds, runs and improves the enterprise AI platforms, with the goal of giving other teams scalable, secure and reliable AI infrastructure so they can build and ship AI products faster.

This is a lead role. You will set technical direction for the foundational platforms that support AI and machine learning across the enterprise, spanning platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, MLOps and AI operations on both public and private clouds.

You will help shape the platforms, tooling, operating practices and infrastructure for the next generation of AI work, tackling scale, reliability, observability, governance, automation and internal customer enablement while shaping the company's long-term AI platform direction.

You will act as a developing subject matter expert, leading the design and delivery of complex capabilities, improving existing products and processes, and influencing decisions across engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture and governance.

The ideal candidate has strong software engineering and cloud platform skills and has supported production AI or machine learning systems. You enjoy technical leadership, automation and reliability work, and you lead through influence by reviewing technical work, mentoring engineers and turning complex requirements into scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build and operation of enterprise platforms for machine learning, generative AI, agentic AI and advanced analytics.
  • Turn business, engineering and operational needs into scalable platform solutions and implementation plans.
  • Design and maintain advanced AI and machine learning systems that meet enterprise standards for security, reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
  • Own technical delivery across public and private clouds, finding dependencies, solving hard problems and shaping cross-functional decisions.
  • Build and refine services and workflows that make onboarding, development, deployment, operations and lifecycle management of AI solutions simpler.
  • Develop infrastructure, tooling and services for model training, evaluation, fine-tuning, deployment, inference, monitoring and governance.
  • Lead the rollout of repeatable, scalable and secure MLOps capabilities and AI development workflows.
  • Build and improve data ingestion, preprocessing and feature engineering workflows that feed model training and inference.
  • Design observability, covering telemetry, performance monitoring, logging, alerting, operational analytics, model monitoring and drift detection.
  • Keep AI platforms stable and scalable, and drive gains in reliability, resilience, efficiency, security and customer experience.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and incident response for complex platform issues, and turn lessons learned into lasting fixes.
  • Shape platform architecture through design discussions, reviews, prototypes, tradeoff analysis and technical recommendations.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to understand needs, guide solution design, drive adoption and speed up delivery of AI-powered products.
  • Work with infrastructure, security, architecture, risk and governance teams to align capabilities with enterprise standards, controls, ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess emerging AI technologies and industry trends, and recommend changes to the company's AI ecosystem and roadmap.
  • Champion engineering best practices in Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automated testing, secure development, documentation and operational excellence.
  • Guide and mentor engineers through design advice, technical reviews, problem-solving help and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, building and operating cloud-native platforms or large-scale distributed systems in enterprise settings.
  • Strong record of delivering solutions across public and private clouds.
  • Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Advanced software engineering and automation experience in Python.
  • Experience leading technical design and delivery of complex work involving several teams or stakeholders.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience designing or supporting production AI, machine learning, data platform or distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of MLOps, model lifecycle management, production inference and AI system operations.
  • Experience setting up telemetry, monitoring, logging, alerting and operational analytics.
  • Ability to diagnose complex issues, lead root cause analysis and put lasting corrective actions in place.
  • Ability to weigh architectural options, explain tradeoffs and influence cross-functional decisions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience guiding, mentoring or reviewing the work of other engineers.
  • Preferred: Experience with enterprise generative AI platforms and large language model workloads.
  • Preferred: Experience with model evaluation, fine-tuning, guardrails, responsible AI controls and model governance.
  • Preferred: Experience with model observability, drift detection, telemetry and operational analytics.
  • Preferred: Experience with AI serving infrastructure, inference platforms or AI gateways.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting GPU-based workloads and accelerated computing environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, GitOps and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Preferred: Experience with enterprise platform engineering, developer enablement and self-service capabilities.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, AI gateways, agentic systems and model routing.
  • Preferred: Experience working in regulated environments that require strong security, governance, risk management, resiliency and compliance controls.
