Description

You will integrate, troubleshoot and check complex software modules built by several engineering teams, so that they run together reliably inside the company's real-time radar systems.

The company builds radars and optical sensors used in a larger integrated defense system. Its range runs from small portable radars, used for border or site surveillance, to complex four-dimensional radars that detect small objects from hundreds to thousands of kilometers away.

The Sensor Processing group, part of the software department, writes the software that controls the sensors and handles their digital processing. Its multidisciplinary teams work with specialists in systems engineering, sensor design and real-time systems.

The group builds the full radar software, covering radar control, timing of radar transmissions and processing of digital data streams. The aim is to detect, classify and track objects such as aircraft and drones and show them on an operator console.

The software is split into many modules, which makes it sturdy and easy to change. Agile teams build it using a modern development pipeline, and those teams also maintain the architecture, the pipeline and their Agile process.

Responsibilities

  • You keep the modules consistent with one another, so that together they form a dependable radar system.
  • You integrate and test the code in these modules, working across teams and module boundaries.
  • You map the technical dependencies between modules and how they connect.
  • Analyze integration problems and propose structural fixes for the hard cases.
  • Build and maintain the build, integration and deployment pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, Maven and Nexus.
  • Judge how software changes affect the system and track the quality and stability of the integrated software.
  • Work closely with engineers and testers across several Scrum teams.

Requirements

  • You are an experienced software professional who is comfortable in complex technical settings.
  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO or WO) in a field such as Technical Computer Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering or software integration in a similar technical setting.
  • Experience with large, complex real-time software systems and continuous integration.
  • Experience with C++ and/or Java, and with Linux.
  • Nice to have: experience with continuous integration, Jenkins, Artifactory and Maven.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Conditions

The team works in a hybrid model: 60% in the office and 40% remote. Because the work involves close collaboration and radar software testing, more time in the office is preferred.

You have flexible working hours and wide freedom to plan your week.

The company supports equal opportunity for all candidates.

Benefits

  • Pay follows Pay Scale 60 under the Metalektro-HP collective labor agreement.
  • 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days (reduced working hours) for full-time work. You can buy or sell extra ADV days.
  • Holiday allowance of 8%, a fixed year-end bonus of 2%, a variable profit-sharing bonus and an allowance for working from home.
  • A mobility policy that reimburses travel costs and/or provides an NS Business Card.
  • Pension accrual through the company's own pension fund, with the company paying 60% of the contribution.
  • You can swap some salary components for perks such as gym memberships, a bicycle plan or union fees.
  • Group discount on health insurance through a partner.
  • A challenging role in a high-tech environment where personal initiative and good ideas are welcome.
  • Room to grow personally and professionally, for example into technical, commercial or international areas.
  • Collaboration with colleagues from 68 countries.
  • A pleasant workplace with a focus on flexibility and work-life balance.
  • Relocation support is available, and the team will discuss options even if Hengelo is far from where you live.
