Description

The Sensors Division at the company builds technology for advanced sensor systems, including airborne and surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing.

The division's work covers full system prototypes, experiment campaigns, and component development, with roles in RF analog and digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing, machine learning, tracking and fusion, and real-time embedded processor implementation.

The Real-time Architectures, Integration and Demonstration (RAID) Group takes algorithms from concept to real-time software, supplies open architecture expertise, and helps integrate capabilities for experiments, tests, and deployment.

The group is hiring a Lead Systems Engineer with proven Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills. You will help design, build, test, and maintain real-time software that controls complex hardware and follows open architecture standards.

Working in focused teams, you will turn internal software into production-quality code that outside integrators can run on their embedded and distributed computing platforms. You will also set best practices and automated processes that bring MBSE into the company's Agile software development.

Responsibilities

  • Work with principal investigators, software engineers, and other systems engineers to plan, model, build, test, and document large software and hardware systems.
  • Connect MBSE artifacts to software pipelines, including code and test generation and large-scale code analysis.
  • Work with software and systems engineers to fold MBSE processes into development in a way that speeds it up.
  • Extract, manage, and analyze requirements for RF sensor signal processing or comparable systems.
  • Write or help write documentation for system and software designs, APIs, implementation details, and technical reports.
  • Run peer reviews and recommend next steps for technical work.
  • Travel about 5% of the time for integration events, customer meetings, and field demonstrations.

Requirements

  • You must be able to get and keep a Secret or Top Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. government for this.
  • Hold a PhD plus 2 years, an MS plus 5 years, or a BS plus 7 years in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Have experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering to medium to large agile software programs.
  • Be strongly proficient in CAMEO or another Model Based Systems Engineering tool.
  • Have worked on professional software development teams.
  • Write and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Preferred: Hold an active Secret or Top Secret clearance, which is strongly preferred because clearance processing takes time.
  • Preferred: Have built products or toolkits that third parties integrate with various hardware and software subsystems.
  • Preferred: Automate the integration of CAMEO or other MBSE tools with Agile development.
  • Preferred: Have worked with signal processing development teams.
  • Preferred: Have experience with open architecture standards and frameworks.
  • Preferred: Know Git and collaborative development practices.
  • Preferred: Have developed CAMEO plugins.
  • Preferred: Understand RF sensor system concepts.
  • Preferred: Know CI/CD pipelines and DevOps, and how to integrate MBSE into them.
  • Preferred: Have contributed to proposal development and technical writing.

Conditions

Full-time salary range is $174,000.00 to $225,000.00, based on external market data. Final offers depend on experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and market and business conditions.
