Senior Software Engineer - Build AI Tools (Python, GoLang)

Description

The company is a global bank with about 200 million customer accounts and a presence in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. It offers consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services and wealth management.

The Cloud Technology Services group runs the company's cloud programme across public and private cloud, with new projects built on cutting-edge cloud and container technology.

This role is in the newly formed GenAI Security team. The team keeps the security of the firm's GenAI prompt security capabilities in place and improves them, in an environment that changes daily. Part of the work is building engineering solutions and part is working with vendor products toward the same goals. You will work closely with key engineering teams, Operations and Site Reliability Engineering.

Strong security skills and strong engineering skills both matter for success here.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, tune and extend a platform that defends the firm's AI and LLM applications against adversarial attacks and prompt injection.
• Build and automate a testing framework that checks protections across different LLM use cases.
• Own solutions that must run and perform well at organisation-wide scale.
• Work with many stakeholders across Engineering, Operations and partner teams throughout the company, some of them in other time zones.

Requirements

• Highly motivated and able to work independently, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Good spoken and written communication skills.
• Significant relevant industry experience.
• Experience running enterprise software through its full lifecycle, from design and implementation to operation, working across functional teams.
• Expert-level skill in Python and/or Go, plus associated tooling such as Git, Maven, IDEs, Jenkins and Bitbucket.
• Expert-level skill in designing and implementing secure APIs and libraries.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability and scaling.
• Experience with containerised deployment on Kubernetes, OpenShift or similar.
• Expertise in DevOps, CI/CD and agile methods.
• Bonus: experience with generative AI, LLM frameworks, prompt engineering or adversarial testing.
• Bonus: experience in cyber engineering and operations, such as DevSecOps or MLSecOps.
