Software Engineer

Description

You will design, build, deliver and maintain the company's control software and related applications and services.

You take part in the whole software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through coding, testing, documentation and user support.

You work alongside system engineers, frontend developers and other software developers to build solutions that fit and extend shared platforms.

Responsibilities

• Work with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to build solutions that match and extend shared platforms.
• Apply SDLC practices and Lean, Agile or XP methods, along with continuous integration, software and product security, scalability, documentation, refactoring and testing techniques.
• Build and upkeep software components, systems and the networks that connect them.
• Study what users need, then design and write code to meet it.
• Partner with the business unit so applications match product specifications.
• Coordinate with other engineering teams, partners and vendors so systems interoperate and code gets reused.
• Help the product service group reproduce, debug and fix product issues when needed.
• Design, implement, test and maintain complex products that run on Windows, meeting quality targets.
• Take an active part in design and code reviews.
• Drive improvements in performance and reliability.
• Talk with customers to clarify requirements, resolve issues and raise satisfaction.
• Help refine the development process to boost productivity and quality.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM field (science, technology, engineering or math).

• You must provide proof of this status before employment begins.
• Desired: Edison Engineer status; completion of LPX, ENGAGE and Teardown training; progress toward an engineering master's degree and/or an ACE Certificate.
• Desired: C or Java object-oriented programming, gained through school or work.
• Desired: Microsoft Windows desktop application programming, gained through school or work.
• Desired, a plus: C++, real-time operating systems or embedded programming.
• Desired: automated test methodologies.
• Desired: configuration management tools.
• Desired: software build and installation methodologies.
• Desired: Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Desired: knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as.NET Core, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, VC++ and SQL.
• Desired: knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles.
• Desired: agile work experience or introductory Lean/Agile training, and the ability to apply continuous integration (CI).

Conditions

The role is based in the United States, with a pay range of $72,000.00 to $108,000.00 for U.S.-based positions.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

Specific pay depends on factors such as experience, education and skill set.

The company employs only people legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.

Any offer is conditional on passing a drug screen, where applicable.
