Staff Engineer - Cloud Security

It is a Leader in the Forrester Wave for Microsegmentation and supports Zero Trust segmentation for infrastructure, systems and organizations.

The engineering team values autonomy and ownership, and works with a broad stack that includes operating systems, distributed applications and UI and visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Build containerized microservices for a distributed, multi-tenant system that processes real-time events and network telemetry from several public clouds.
• Turn that data into real-time insights, visibility and security recommendations that help customers find and reduce cloud risk.
• Design your services end to end, defend the architecture to your peers, and deliver a robust implementation.
• Own key features and subsystems across the full lifecycle, from clarifying requirements to customer adoption.
• Help run the system in production, learning its operational problems first-hand so you can write more supportable code.
• Keep code quality high through early developer testing and functional and integration testing.
• Work with Product Management to review and sharpen requirements so they go beyond what customers expect.
• Build a deep understanding of the core problems customers need solved, through talks with stakeholders and peers.
• Mentor junior engineers, new grads and interns so they grow and contribute to the team.
• Write mostly Go, and build data pipelines with SQL or other interfaces.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
• 8+ years building distributed, scalable software and systems.
• A strong interest in software development, a drive to keep learning current technology, and comfort working in a team.
• Extensive use of AWS, Azure or GCP at the API or programming level.
• Experience in Go and SQL.
• Experience as a REST API client.
• General knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
• Experience in a Unix or Linux programming environment.
• Nice to have: a master's degree (a plus).
• Nice to have: experience with networking and security controls (a plus).
• Nice to have: experience delivering a containerized service on Kubernetes (desired).
• Nice to have: CloudFormation, Terraform or Ansible.

Conditions

The role is based on-site five days a week at the Sunnyvale, CA headquarters.

The role involves software subject to U.S. export controls, and any offer depends on your ability to comply with them.
