Description

The Sensor Processing group in the Software Engineering department builds the full software stack for radar systems.

Work covers radar control, transmission scheduling, real-time processing of high-volume digital data, detection and classification of targets such as aircraft and drones, and tracking with operator consoles.

The architecture is modular so systems can keep evolving as requirements and technology change.

Teams work in Agile fashion with a modern toolchain and are responsible for the architecture, development infrastructure and Agile processes themselves.

The company builds advanced radar systems and optical sensors, from small portable radars for border or asset surveillance to large four-dimensional systems that detect small objects at distances of hundreds or thousands of kilometres.

The group works in multidisciplinary teams alongside systems engineers, functional sensor designers and real-time systems specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain radar control software and the functions around it.
  • Plan and schedule radar transmissions.
  • Process large digital data streams in real time.
  • Create algorithms that detect and classify targets such as aircraft and drones.
  • Track detected objects and show them to operators on dedicated consoles.
  • Help keep the software architecture, build infrastructure and Agile practices in good shape with your team.

Requirements

  • A completed BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or Electrical Engineering.
  • About 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive Linux experience.
  • Strong C++ and MATLAB programming skills.
  • Experience writing real-time software for complex systems.
  • An interest in radar control, high-performance computing and digital data processing.
  • Willingness to build your knowledge of radar and digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, required for this role.
  • Desirable: experience with RDMA, OpenCL and/or CUDA, which is a strong advantage.
  • Desirable: experience with software profiling and performance optimisation.
  • You are creative, open-minded and flexible.
  • You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and are a strong team player.
  • You are results-oriented and proactive.
  • You communicate clearly and effectively.
  • You grasp both technical detail and the bigger picture.
  • You are comfortable taking ownership and initiative.
  • You enjoy accelerating algorithms and handling high-speed data streams.
