Description

The company administers the city's tax revenue laws, aiming for fairness, efficiency and transparency, to build public trust, encourage compliance and deliver strong customer service.

Its technology division builds, runs and supports the computer systems, covering hardware, software, applications, infrastructure, phones and data security. It runs tax payment programs for New York City and provides the systems behind citywide payments, land records, property assessment, parking adjudications, customer service and the Sheriff's public safety work.

The team is looking for an experienced Appian developer who builds feature-rich internal and public-facing apps on the Appian Platform with a strong user experience. You will join a dedicated technology team, design, code and test new applications, and work with others to align technical work with business goals, delivering apps built on low-code platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build complex, integrated web and mobile applications to enterprise standards, using data structures, algorithms and design patterns for full-stack and low-code solutions. Work with process models, record actions, Rules, Expressions, SAIL (Self-Assembling Interface Layer) custom interfaces, custom plug-ins and other standard out-of-the-box tools.
  • Design the architecture of complex low-code applications so they scale, stay reliable and secure, and match the company's business goals and low-code product strategy, with a strong focus on integration.
  • Connect Appian applications to external enterprise systems and databases through REST and SOAP APIs and connected systems.
  • Find ways to streamline development and raise efficiency using low-code Appian and automation, especially for the parking ticket life cycle.
  • Make sure applications meet current and future Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.
  • Keep availability, latency and efficiency high by building reliability into the solution. Troubleshoot and diagnose incidents using advanced tracing, alerting and log analysis.
  • Build automation that prevents repeat problems and supports a quality-first culture.
  • Test and debug front-end applications for cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness and performance.
  • Write and maintain thorough technical documentation.
  • Run application and code reviews, giving constructive feedback on quality, design and implementation to meet high standards of performance and reliability.
  • Cross-train other developers on the team, share best practices and encourage learning and growth.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in the areas required for the position.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Conditions

You report to the Director of Parking & Collections.
