Description

The company builds financial technology, and the React Core Development team works on modern web applications with React on the front end and Java Spring Boot on the back end.

The team handles the full development lifecycle, from technical design and build through testing, deployment and ongoing support, with a focus on secure, scalable and maintainable software and a better user experience.

The role is open at junior, mid-level and senior levels. Your scope, autonomy and technical leadership will depend on the level you join at.

You will build UI components with React.js, improve front-end performance and keep the front-end codebase well documented. You will work on design, coding, debugging, maintenance, support, implementation and validation, and work with stakeholders across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality code for our products, alone or with guidance suited to your experience, and own the quality of your output.
  • Investigate and fix client software issues and support the client software life cycle.
  • Find and fix code defects, escalating them or proposing alternatives where needed.
  • Support project and product rollouts at client sites or on AWS.
  • Follow coding standards. At senior level, help define and promote engineering best practices.
  • Take part in code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing. Senior engineers may also mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Depending on your level, work with guidance or take independent ownership, suggest improvements to development and system standards, and help plan implementation across the product life cycle.

Requirements

  • A degree in an IT-related subject such as Computer Science or MIS, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming languages and concepts.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Java and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Understanding of database concepts and cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of or experience with React.js, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with React.js workflows, RESTful API integration, and front-end build tools and pipelines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Junior candidates: a solid software development foundation and a drive to learn through guidance, feedback and hands-on work. Relevant technical skills can come from study, personal projects, internships or professional work.
  • Senior candidates: at least 4+ years of professional experience shipping production software with React.js and related technologies. You should be able to own complex work alone, contribute to technical design, troubleshoot hard problems and help other engineers grow.
