Description

The company is a global technology and professional services firm serving U.S. government, defense and intelligence agencies, with about 26,000 staff across 50+ countries, focused on AI, cloud, cyber and software development.

The role centres on building, maintaining and improving complex software systems, such as heavy analytics, new algorithms, very large data sets, real-time systems and business information systems, from documented requirements. You will work alone or within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Turn user requirements into software design and performance requirements.
  • Find and fix defects in existing software, and modify it to correct errors, adapt to new hardware or improve performance.
  • Design and write new code, or change existing code, to add features.
  • Connect existing software into new or changed systems and operating environments.
  • Write simple data queries, and design or build more complex database and repository interfaces and queries.
  • Work with ITOM, ITSM, HRSD, CSM and/or Service Portal, and code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Write or review software and system documentation, and recommend improvements to documentation and development process standards.
  • Review and test software components against design requirements, record the results, and resolve software problem reports.
  • Choose a development methodology suited to each project, and coordinate it with the customer and system engineering.
  • Lead one or more software teams, delegate programming and testing, monitor their output, and make sure work follows the chosen process.
  • Serve as technical lead across several teams, and oversee quality control for all developed and modified software.
  • Design complex algorithms with strict timing, resource or interface limits, and apply scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict design outcomes.
  • Work with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements, understand project limits, capabilities and interfaces.
  • Assess tools and technologies, including FOSS, GOTS and COTS, and fold suitable ones into the system design.
  • Install software systems and check equipment to confirm it meets operational specifications.
  • Report project status to customers and stakeholders, and manage subsystem requirements.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar processes may replace the degree.
  • At least 10 years of related experience.
  • Active Top Secret SCI clearance with polygraph, or the ability to obtain it.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Knowledge of computer, information system and system security requirements.

Conditions

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD, USA. Onsite work only.

Full-time, 40 scheduled hours per week. No travel required.

Likely salary range $214,776 to $290,580, based on experience, location and possibly contract terms; the figure is not guaranteed and may fall outside this range.
