Senior Software Engineer

The company supplies materials science and engineering equipment used to make nearly every new semiconductor chip and advanced display worldwide.

Its equipment and services support AI and help bring next-generation chips to market.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who will design and build scalable, high-performance software for complex, data-intensive applications. The ideal candidate has solid software engineering fundamentals and experience with distributed systems, large-scale data processing, databases, microservices and modern architectures. You will have room to shape architecture and tackle hard problems across the whole stack.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reliable, scalable software that is ready for production.
• Create systems to process, store, distribute and visualize very large volumes of data.
• Plan microservices, APIs and distributed applications.
• Build efficient data pipelines for workloads that demand heavy compute or large data volumes.
• Write and run software in both Windows and Linux environments.
• Tune software for speed, scale, reliability and ease of maintenance.
• Track down complex faults that span applications, services, databases, networks and infrastructure.
• Take part in architecture discussions, design reviews and code reviews.
• Work with engineers from different disciplines and across countries.
• Give technical direction and mentorship where it helps.

Requirements

• Solid background in a number of these areas: C++, Java or C.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: microservices and distributed systems.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: multithreading, concurrency and performance optimization.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: Apache Spark, Kafka or similar data-processing technologies.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: PostgreSQL, MongoDB or comparable databases.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: Windows and Linux.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: React and/or Angular.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Solid background in a number of these areas: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and diagnostics.
• BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 7+ years building production software, including large-scale or data-intensive systems, with an MS; 10 years with a BS; 5 years with a PhD.

Conditions

Salary range: $152,000.00 to $208,500.00.

Location: Santa Clara, CA.

Full time, regular employee (assignee).

Travel: 10% of the time.

Relocation eligible: yes.

For sales roles, the posted range is Target Total Cash: base salary plus target bonus at 100% goal achievement.
