Description

You will join the User Targeting team, which owns how customers segment and target their users. Every message the company sends passes through its pipelines, which handle billions of users per day.

The team works close to customers on a core, high-impact part of the product and moves fast. The company is growing quickly on a global scale and aims for greater equity and opportunity inside and outside the organization.

The company is headquartered in New York, with offices in Austin, Berlin, Bucharest, Chicago, Dubai, Jakarta, London, Paris, San Francisco, São Paulo, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney and Tokyo.

The company is a customer engagement platform that helps brands run cross-channel messaging, journeys and AI-driven personalized experiences, and it has been recognized by industry analysts as a leader in marketing technology.

The team values high standards, teamwork, autonomy, accountability and openness to new perspectives. It suits people who like hard problems and act quickly when things change.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own features in a complex, high-scale segmentation system that supports the whole product, including new segmentation capabilities and work on performance and cost.
  • Design and implement features across the Ruby on Rails backend and the React frontend, from design review through to production rollout.
  • Take medium-sized projects end to end: break the work down, set delivery dates, and meet them.
  • Write and tune queries on MongoDB and ClickHouse, and learn how segmentation speed and cost change as data volume grows.
  • Work with product managers, designers and other engineering teams to clarify requirements and ship what customers need.
  • Write thorough automated tests, review teammates' code, and join the on-call rotation to keep systems stable.
  • The team uses AI across its daily work, including agentic tools to navigate the large Ruby monolith, build proofs of concept, and move quickly and safely from request to working solution. AI supports every stage of product delivery.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications, in full-stack development or back-end services.
  • A solid grasp of software design, data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one production database.
  • The ability to turn an unclear feature request into working, tested code with limited oversight, asking the right questions first.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, and a record of doing well on team-based work.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Bonus: prior experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake or other data lake solutions.
  • Bonus: experience working on a high-scale, high-throughput system.
  • Bonus: a passion for customer experience.
