Description

You'll join a team at a company that makes a customer engagement platform, which helps brands build personalised, cross-channel experiences powered by AI.

The company is growing quickly worldwide and works to expand equity and opportunity both internally and across the wider community.

People here act on their own initiative, own outcomes, and stay open to other views. Curiosity and personal interests outside work are encouraged and shape a lively culture.

The role suits people who enjoy hard problems and move fast when things change, and the team is sharp and committed.

The company is headquartered in New York, with offices in Austin, Berlin, Bucharest, Chicago, Dubai, Jakarta, London, Paris, San Francisco, São Paulo, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney and Tokyo. It is certified as a Great Place to Work in the US, UK, Australia and Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Currents team as a Senior Software Engineer to build, maintain and develop Currents, the company's data export system, which runs at scale.
  • Work on Currents, a Kafka-based event pipeline that processes tens of billions of messages each day and lets customers analyse user behaviour in near real time.
  • Take projects from idea to production and improve existing high-scale systems as a key engineer on a collaborative team.
  • Apply your experience, skills and teamwork to the engineering challenges of running a critical data streaming system.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • Experience building foundational systems at scale and leading software projects that moved your organisation's goals forward.
  • You lead by example and are excellent at mentoring engineers, raising the level of those around you.
  • You work well on your own, communicate clearly, stay organised, and thrive in a highly collaborative team.
  • Experience with Kafka at scale or a comparable technology.
  • Professional experience with distributed systems and/or microservices.
  • Bonus: experience with Java, Kotlin, Confluent or React.

Conditions

For candidates based in the United States, the starting pay range is $140,400 to $232,200 per year, with expected On Target Earnings (OTE) of $156,000 to $258,000 per year, including bonus or commission.

The final offer may vary based on factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Alongside cash pay, the role includes a full Total Rewards package with restricted stock unit (RSU) equity grants, so you will own a share of the company.

Benefits differ by location, and details for each country are available on request; full plan details are shared with any offer.

Equal opportunity employer: candidates who do not meet 100% of the criteria are still encouraged to apply.

The company uses AI-assisted tools to analyse application materials for screening and prioritising candidates, and to support scheduling, interview recording and note summaries, though this screening may amount to automated decision-making; recruiters remain responsible for all hiring decisions and you may have rights over this use, including requesting a manual review of a decision.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation that may include equity.
  • Retirement savings and Employee Stock Purchase Plans.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage.
  • Family support, including fertility benefits and equal paid parental leave.
  • Professional development through formal career paths, learning platforms and a yearly learning stipend.
  • An in-office experience designed to build community, team connections and innovation, alongside hybrid ways of working.
  • Volunteer Week and donation matching, with an annual company-wide volunteer week.
  • Employee Resource Groups offering support communities.
  • A collaborative, open and fun culture.
