Description

The company runs a metasearch platform for restaurants and diners, with millions of diners and more than 70,000 restaurant partners, and has been operating for over 25 years. It is part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG).

The Hospitality Guest team owns the core CRM systems that support guest-focused restaurant experiences worldwide. As Senior Engineering Manager, you will set the technical direction and see it through, while leading and developing a group of senior product engineers. You will work with Product, Design and Data leaders to turn complex business needs into high-scale transactional and analytical systems that give restaurants insights they can act on.

Your role is part of a global team across several metasearch brands, where each employee can have a visible effect on the product and on how the work gets done.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and coach senior frontend and backend engineers so they keep growing and keep delivering quality work.
  • Own the technical strategy and its delivery, from early planning and architecture through launch and ongoing operations.
  • Work with Product and Design leaders to shape the roadmap and line technical work up with product goals.
  • Improve processes and day-to-day operations to make development workflows more efficient and raise engineering standards.
  • Design and deliver scalable platforms and guest-facing features that other engineering teams build on.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and running scalable backend applications and distributed systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing engineers, developing people, or leading complex projects across several teams.
  • A proven record of taking technical initiatives end to end, from first architecture through deployment and long-term support.
  • Hands-on backend development in languages such as Java, C or Python, plus experience with relational or non-relational databases.
  • Preferred: experience building CRM, hospitality or data analytics platforms.
  • Preferred: at least 3 years leading full-stack teams that use modern frontend frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
  • Preferred: strong track record communicating across functions and turning technical roadmaps into plans business partners can follow.
  • Preferred: practical experience deploying and managing containerized services on Kubernetes or in the cloud.
  • Preferred: experience designing or running high-throughput transactional and analytical data systems, including streaming or orchestration tools such as Kafka, Spark or Airflow.

Conditions

Hybrid role with an expectation of coming into the office two days a week.

You may work from almost anywhere for up to 20 days per year.

Some work falls outside normal business hours, such as calls, Slack messages or emails, to collaborate with international colleagues, reply to restaurant partners or handle urgent issues. Local laws are always respected.

The role is eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.

The company is committed to an inclusive workplace. For accommodations during hiring or on the job, contact your recruiter.

Benefits

  • Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth and a company-paid Headspace subscription.
  • An annual company-wide week off, when the whole team recharges and comes back without a backlog.
  • Paid parental leave, generous paid vacation and time off for your birthday.
  • Paid volunteer time.
  • Development Dollars, leadership development and thousands of on-demand e-learnings.
  • Travel discounts and access to Employee Resource Groups.
  • 20 days of paid time off.
  • Private health and dental insurance, plus life and disability insurance.
  • A competitive base salary along with health, retirement and life insurance; paid sick, medical, bereavement and holiday leave; and parental leave.
