The company is an edge-to-cloud business that helps other organizations connect, protect, analyze and act on their data and applications across edge and cloud environments.

You will analyze, design, program, debug and modify software for end users, including enhancements and new products for local, networked and internet-based computer programs.

You will write code in current languages and technologies, test and debug applications, and prepare installation and maintenance documentation. You may also talk with users to define system needs and required changes.

You will solve common and sometimes complex technical problems, suggest alternatives when needed, and sometimes act as project lead while helping less senior professionals. You will use your own judgment and consult others to choose the best approach.

Responsibilities

• Design enhancements, updates and code changes for parts and subsystems of end-user applications that run on local, networked and internet-based platforms.
• Review designs and decide which coding, programming and integration work is needed, based on the overall goals and the product or solution architecture.
• Write and run full test plans, protocols and documentation for your part of an application, then find, debug and fix issues with the code and how it fits the architecture.
• Lead a team of software engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for your assigned application part or subsystem.
• Keep management, internal teams and outsourced partners updated on design status, project progress and issue resolution.
• Represent the software engineering team across all phases of larger, more complex development projects.
• Guide and mentor less experienced staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or an equivalent field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with software design tools and languages, including proficiency in C, and with embedded coding models.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel and networking is an asset.
• Strong independent initiative, and willingness to ask questions proactively and solve problems on your own.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing software that runs on multiple platform types.
• Solid software testing methodology, including writing and running test plans, debugging, and writing test scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication. You can explain product architectures and design proposals and negotiate options at management level.

Conditions

Hybrid role: on average 2 days per week in a company office.

Base salary in Canada is CAD 100,900 to 150,900 per year in Ontario, depending on location, experience, education and skill level.
