Description

The company is hiring a Senior Test Solutions Engineer for its Test Solutions team, which supports several projects in the Surveillance and Protection Technologies business area.

You will work with internal and external clients on a project-by-project basis to build test solutions and system designs.

The role suits someone with a mix of systems and hardware engineering background who wants to move up to the next level in their career.

You will join an engineering team on a programme developing key technologies for the future, working alongside engineers from several disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Write requirements, build MATLAB models and contribute to RF design analysis, integration and test.
  • Review, assess and advise on technical matters throughout the engineering design process.
  • Solve technical problems from design through to test solution development.
  • Capture Test Equipment Requirements for RF, digital and analogue test systems.
  • Capture Production Test Requirements for main equipment, covering PCB and system-level testing.
  • Check design integrity before formal design reviews.
  • Work across the full engineering lifecycle, from design through to test and integration.
  • Take part in engineering technical meetings and supplier discussions.
  • Manage requirements at every level to support design and development decisions.
  • Influence requirements and design decisions.
  • Share knowledge and apply best practice.
  • Write clear, accurate and concise technical reports that support key programme decisions.
  • Keep good lines of communication with the Project Engineering Manager or Lead.
  • Deliver to agreed performance targets.
  • Contribute to IPT decisions at engineering task level.
  • Take part in continuous improvement to build skills in your own engineering discipline.

Requirements

  • Experience with complex electronic and electromechanical systems, ideally from Aerospace and Defence, with a solid grasp of developing test equipment for production.
  • Technically minded, with a good understanding of the project lifecycle and comfort working at all levels within an Integrated Project Team.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing complex test solutions across the full lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Some exposure to airborne EW systems, IBM DOORS and PDM tools, test equipment across platform products, and bus analysers, spectrum analysers and RF power meters.
  • Ability to make informed decisions using information from relevant technical sources.
  • An excellent, confident communicator and presenter who can engage with many internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage your own time across multiple activities.
  • The list is not exhaustive, and candidates without experience in every area are welcome. A good attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
  • Nice to have: understanding of digital, analogue and RF systems with ESM and ECM.
  • Nice to have: experience in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems.
  • Nice to have: Chartered Engineer status or membership of a professional engineering institution.
