Senior Systems Engineer II

The role covers designing, running and steadily improving cloud-based enterprise systems that business-critical applications depend on.

You will help plan projects, keep systems reliable, secure and fast, and take ownership of hard system problems from start to finish.

The team works in a DevOps setting, so automation and operational efficiency are part of the job.

Responsibilities

• Find the root cause of complex system and performance problems in cloud environments and fix them
• Watch system health and act early on anything that threatens stability, performance or security
• Design, build and roll out configuration changes, improvements and automation
• Run change management work, including assessing the impact of each change
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code and operational scripts
• Work with development teams, support staff and vendors to deliver dependable solutions
• Review the work of less experienced engineers and offer guidance
• Improve monitoring, alerting and reporting across systems
• Keep systems ready for recovery and lead incident response
• Help plan capacity and make AWS infrastructure scale
• Apply security best practices and check compliance with internal standards
• Keep clear documentation of systems, processes and procedures

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, networking, IAM and EKS
• Solid working knowledge of Linux and UNIX systems
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Scripting and automation skills in languages such as Bash or Python
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with monitoring and performance tuning tools such as CloudWatch or NewRelic
• Experience running incident, problem and change management processes
• Understanding of security practices, including IAM, patching and vulnerability management
• Knowledge of system recovery and disaster recovery strategies
