Description

You will lead DevOps work on the portal, a production service the team keeps reliable. The role is technical: you build and fix systems yourself while also planning, coordinating and leading delivery. The career stage is Manager.

The company provides financial markets infrastructure and data, with 25,000 people across 65 countries.

Success looks like clear, ranked backlog items, well-defined stories with solid acceptance criteria, planned and communicated releases, BAU handovers that are complete and accepted, secure portal changes with good documentation, and risks raised early.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Portal Team Owner on strategy, future growth and building a top-tier service.
  • Refine the backlog so items are well defined, ranked and ready to build.
  • Write and shape user stories, acceptance criteria, technical tasks and dependencies.
  • Set engineering priorities with product owners, delivery managers, architects, security and operations.
  • Do hands-on DevOps work across AWS, CI/CD pipelines, Linux, networking and identity services.
  • Build delivery plans, track progress, and flag risks and blockers early to keep milestones on track.
  • Run release management: planning, environment readiness, deployment, rollback plans and stakeholder updates.
  • Make sure BAU teams receive complete handovers, including runbooks, support processes, monitoring expectations, known issues and escalation paths.
  • Join incident investigations, problem management and service improvements where DevOps skills are needed.
  • Push automation, repeatable builds, security, resilience and operational excellence across the platform.
  • Guide and mentor engineers while staying involved in building and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Solid grasp of identity management, access control, authentication, authorisation and secure user lifecycles.
  • Working experience with authentication flows and federation standards, SAML and OIDC.
  • Hands-on work with AWS services including EC2, EKS, CloudFront, RDS and AWS Transfer Family.
  • Experience building, maintaining and debugging GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong Linux administration, shell usage, troubleshooting and operational support skills.
  • Good working knowledge of networking: DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, certificates, TLS and connectivity issues.
  • Experience running cloud-hosted production services, including monitoring, alerting, incident response and operational readiness.
  • Ability to turn technical requirements into engineering tasks and carry them through to release.
  • Ability to lead technical delivery while balancing your own engineering with coordination.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical people about progress, risks, issues and decisions needed.
  • Helping run planning sessions and breaking work into manageable, well-understood deliverables.
  • Championing production readiness, secure delivery, good documentation and a smooth BAU transition.
  • Pragmatic decision-making with a focus on reliable outcomes.
  • Typically significant experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering or site reliability engineering, having delivered and supported production-grade services. Comfortable across engineering, product, security, infrastructure and BAU operations, and able to move between strategy, delivery and hands-on problem solving.

Conditions

The company does not discriminate on protected grounds and will make reasonable accommodations for religious practices and beliefs, and for mental health or physical disability needs, where the law requires.

Benefits

  • A tailored mix of benefits and support, including healthcare, retirement planning, paid volunteering days and wellbeing initiatives.
