Cloud Architect & DevOps Lead

The company is a global renewable energy trading business that helps move energy from source to use for businesses, homes and societies, with about 21,000 colleagues across a family of brands.

The team is looking for a Cloud Architect and DevOps Lead to help shape and strengthen how cloud and DevOps work is delivered at the company Energy.

This is a hands-on leadership role working across AWS and Azure, combining cloud engineering, automation and bringing people together to get work done.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain secure, scalable and cost-optimised multi-cloud solutions on AWS and Azure, and evaluate and bring in new cloud technologies.
• Build advanced CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and GitHub Actions, including testing, monitoring and rollback.
• Manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Ansible, provisioning across development, testing and production.
• Set up advanced monitoring and alerting with AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor, define incident response, run root cause analysis and provide P1/P2 support for critical infrastructure.
• Build and enforce security practices covering IAM policies, encryption and the company-defined standards, and run periodic security reviews and audits.
• Support cost optimisation and efficient resource use across the cloud estate.
• Lead DevOps practice across teams, guide junior engineers and set consistent standards, best practices and processes.
• Work with developers, QA and operations to keep delivery aligned with business goals, and explain technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Solve problems steadily when priorities shift quickly.

Requirements

• Have significant cloud architecture and DevOps engineering experience, ideally in Commodity Trading, Investment Banking or Financial Services.
• Have proven leadership experience in DevOps and/or cloud infrastructure roles.
• Have deep AWS and Azure expertise, ideally backed by certifications such as AWS or Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional.
• Have hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation and Ansible.
• Have practical experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and GitHub Actions.
• Solve problems well and work confidently in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate with impact, explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
