Description

The company builds defense products on Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN), which help military users, commercial air operators and border protection teams respond faster to changing threats.

Founded in 2022, the company has raised $1 billion from investors including 8VC, Accel and Valor Equity Partners. It is headquartered in Los Angeles and has offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego and London. It has 350+ employees across 5 global offices and is still growing.

You will join the systems engineering team, which works across London and Los Angeles and supports radar deployments in Europe and the Middle East.

The Mission team installs and runs the systems at customer sites, and you own how they perform. You will build deep knowledge of how the radars behave in real conditions, and use data from live deployments and field tests to guide tuning, calibration and product changes.

Responsibilities

  • Own radar performance for systems in the field. Diagnose RF, detection and tracking faults on live deployments and turn what you find into specific fixes.
  • Calibrate, configure and tune radar modes for the environments the company operates in, becoming the team's authority on real-world product behaviour.
  • Measure detection, tracking and false-alarm performance against truth data, quantifying what the system does and where it falls short.
  • Plan and lead test campaigns and data collections, analyse the results, and convert them into product improvements.
  • Build tooling, diagnostics and playbooks so Mission team engineers can deploy, tune and troubleshoot on their own, using AI coding tools to ship faster.
  • Help shape requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria on both sides of the V, drawing on what you have seen in the field.

Requirements

  • The company wants engineers with real radar depth who enjoy hard technical problems. You do not need every specialism listed here; strong fundamentals, curiosity and fast learning count for a lot.
  • Several years of hands-on radar systems work, with a solid grasp of radar principles and modes.
  • Able to reason through the whole signal processing chain, including waveform design, matched filtering, Doppler processing, detection and clutter rejection.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating RF systems and measuring their performance.
  • Enjoy working through radar data to find out why a system behaves as it does.
  • Fluent in Python.
  • Use coding agents and AI tools by default, get real value from them, and have a considered view on what to hand off and what to keep yourself.
  • Systems engineering experience with RF systems across both sides of the V.
  • Comfortable working in the field on customer sites under operational pressure.
  • Able to communicate clearly with people outside your own discipline, technical or not.
  • Authorised to work in the UK.
  • Willing to travel.

Conditions

Based in the Soho office in London, with the role being onsite.

Travel around 25% of the time, in blocks around deployments and test campaigns across Europe and the Middle East, plus time co-locating with the systems engineering team in Los Angeles.

Eligible for UK security clearance.

The stated pay range covers base salary only and excludes bonus, equity and benefits. It is an estimate based on several factors, and the actual offer may vary with experience, education, training, critical skills and business considerations. Candidates whose pay expectations fall outside the range are still encouraged to apply.

Benefits

  • Private medical, dental and vision cover for employees and their dependents, 100% paid by the company.
  • 5% pension match, life insurance, Cycle to Work Scheme, and more.
  • A free lunch every day, no meetings on Fridays, unlimited paid time off and a casual dress code.
  • Competitive base salaries, generous pre-IPO stock option grants, relocation assistance and annual bonuses.
