Description

This is an existing vacancy for a software optimization engineer on the team that builds road structure, online mapping and context fusion for autonomous driving.

The team fuses perception, map and localization data into one consistent model of the driving environment. The role focuses on making that software faster and more efficient in real time.

You will work with algorithm and platform engineers to find bottlenecks and deliver measurable gains in CPU use, memory use and latency on automotive hardware, so the autonomous driving functions run reliably within tight compute and timing limits.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the software that fuses perception, map and localization data into a model of the driving environment.
  • Design and refine architecture, interfaces and data flows so they meet CPU, memory and latency targets on automotive platforms.
  • Profile complex pipelines, locate bottlenecks and ship fixes backed by repeatable measurements.
  • Improve computational efficiency with the algorithm teams without changing algorithm behavior, output quality or correctness.
  • Build benchmarks and performance regression tests that show gains and catch slowdowns.
  • Work with perception, mapping, localization and platform engineers to solve system-level performance problems.
  • Write reliable, maintainable code, review colleagues' code, and help with testing and the safety and quality standards of autonomous driving software.

Requirements

  • A PhD with 4+ years, an MS with 6+ years, or a BS (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong command of modern C++ and substantial experience building performance-sensitive software.
  • Proven ability to profile and optimize CPU use, memory consumption and end-to-end latency.
  • Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, memory management and concurrency, and how each affects performance.
  • Experience using profiling tools and benchmarks to find bottlenecks and confirm fixes under realistic workloads.
  • A methodical approach to debugging and optimization that keeps correctness and reliability intact.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work well across algorithm, software and platform teams.
  • Ways to stand out: experience optimizing real-time software on embedded or automotive platforms.
  • Ways to stand out: familiarity with context fusion, map fusion, localization, perception pipelines, state estimation or related ADAS and autonomous driving systems.
  • Ways to stand out: experience with cache-aware data layouts, memory allocation tuning, multithreading or SIMD/vectorization.
  • Ways to stand out: experience designing efficient APIs and reusable frameworks for complex systems.
  • Ways to stand out: a record of delivering measurable performance gains in production software without losing correctness, output quality or reliability.

Conditions

The base salary depends on location, experience and other objective job-related factors. Expected base salary ranges are 184,000 USD to 287,500 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD for Level 5.

Applications will be accepted at least until November 3, 2026.
