Description

The company builds an autonomous ridehailing service around a purpose-built robotaxi that is fully electric and bidirectional, with no steering wheel or driver's seat. The vehicles are designed around the rider. It currently operates in Las Vegas and San Francisco, with Austin and Miami planned, and is testing in seven U.S. markets.

The contract student worker program places students on real projects alongside engineers and researchers working on autonomous technology. The company is looking for students with solid academic grounding who are curious beyond their coursework and want to contribute to meaningful work.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain features for full-stack QA applications, using TypeScript for frontend and backend and Python for other services, under senior engineers' guidance.
  • Help design and implement test, integration, and end-to-end frameworks and pipeline automation.
  • Support agent-assisted tooling, such as LLM-based classifiers, structured tool interfaces, or evaluation scripts for existing agentic workflows. Senior engineers own architecture and safety-critical decisions.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests, fix bugs, and improve the reliability of existing tools.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand testing and triage problems and help build solutions.

Requirements

  • Completed or recently completed bachelor's degree, or one in progress, in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of professional or internship experience in software engineering.
  • Working proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or both.
  • Familiarity with React or a similar frontend framework, REST APIs, and Git.
  • Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks and to ask clarifying questions when requirements are unclear.
  • Clear communication and a willingness to learn from senior engineers.
  • Currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program in a relevant discipline.
  • Bonus: familiarity with React.
  • Must follow company confidentiality rules, including not using or sharing proprietary information outside the company, for example in academic research, theses, publications, or presentations.

Conditions

Contract role: employment is through a vendor contracted with the company. The hourly rate is as posted, and the vendor determines benefits eligibility.

Commit to a minimum three-month assignment, at least 40 hours per week.

Work on-site at one of the company's office locations.

This is not an internship. The Part-Time Student Worker Program offers ongoing work alongside your studies rather than a cohort-based program. You join a team directly. The program has no structured intern curriculum and no pathway to full-time employment, but it offers hands-on professional experience and chances to build new skills.
