Description

The Platform API team owns the API, the applications framework built on top of it, and some business intelligence analytics reporting. The role is part of this team and focuses on adoption and growth of the Platform.

The main project is a new developer portal, the Development Center. It will document the Platform's APIs, SDKs, connectors and MCP servers and explain how to access them, so that customers, partners, colleagues and AI clients can adapt, automate and configure Altium products and services.

You will work on hard technical problems with a high degree of independence, a supportive team and a chance to shape the Platform's direction. You will work with technical and non-technical teams to deliver a strong solution for everyone who uses the Platform, and you will represent the Platform to internal and external stakeholders, including people at very large technology companies.

The company is a global software business, part of the Renesas Group and headquartered in San Diego, California. It builds a cloud-based platform that connects every stakeholder and stage of electronics development, from PCB design to supply chain and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Build, extend and maintain the public Development Center, internal tools and the technology behind them.
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable front-end and back-end services. Front end uses Vue.js, Next.js or React.js; back end uses C, Python, Golang or other related languages and technology.
  • Update and integrate UI components and web services with other Altium modules and third-party systems.
  • Work with back-end and front-end developers, UX designers, product managers, data platform engineers and DevOps engineers to integrate and deploy websites and services smoothly.
  • Help customers adopt the Platform through SDKs, the API, connectors or other means.
  • Handle customer questions, enhancement requests and bug reports in your areas.
  • Take part in code reviews and help set coding standards and best practices.
  • Help grow Platform adoption through partnerships.
  • Help customers automate tasks by accessing Platform and customer data and services.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a lead or principal software development role.
  • You solve problems naturally and take ownership of your work.
  • You work and think independently, generate ideas and stand behind the solutions you deliver.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one popular front-end framework: Vue.js (preferred), Next.js or React.js.
  • Fluent in at least one common programming language: C (preferred), Python, Golang, JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Good understanding of UX, software architecture and design patterns for web services and platforms.
  • You build rapport and trust with stakeholders across the world.
  • Advantageous: experience building APIs, applications or SDKs, and using the development tools and services that go with them.
  • Advantageous: familiarity with API technologies and using APIs to solve customer business problems.
  • Advantageous: experience writing clear, user-facing documentation for APIs and SDKs, including code samples.
  • Advantageous: experience building Software as a Service products, with an understanding of cloud and on-premises solutions.
  • Advantageous: experience designing and developing relational databases.
  • Advantageous: experience with EDA or PCB design tools, Altium products or the electronics industry.
  • Plus: familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP), CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs or GraphQL.
  • Advantageous: a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in information technology, engineering or a related field.
