Full-stack Engineer 4 (Java, Golang, AWS)

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of varied technology projects and a team of developers who have deep experience with distributed microservices and full-stack systems, building solutions that address the company's regulatory needs.
• Stay current on technology trends, experiment with and learn new tools, take part in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
• Work with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that create strong customer experiences and help millions of Americans reach financial empowerment.
• Use languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript, open source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, and a range of AWS tools and services.
• Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set standards for design, development and operational excellence.
• Work with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns and reusable frameworks.
• Spot areas for improvement and carry out targeted refactoring, and contribute to efforts that reduce technical debt and improve system performance.
• Shape long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices, in an environment where you build it and you own it.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience. Internship experience does not count.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Preferred: 7+ years of coding experience with more than two of the following: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C, Scala.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: 4+ years of experience contributing to open source frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
• Preferred: 4+ years of experience building synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and automated testing frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with Git-based version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
• Preferred: Experience using modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience mentoring engineers and developing professional growth within technical teams.
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience using observability to find and improve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Preferred: Experience with interactive AI tools that go beyond basic code completion to boost productivity.
• Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
• Preferred: Experience setting and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

Conditions

Full-time annual salary in Plano, TX ranges from $179,400 to $204,700 for Full-stack Engineer 4. This salary information applies only to candidates hired to work in that location, and reflects the amount the company is willing to pay at the time of posting.

Candidates hired in other locations will be paid the range for that location, and the exact salary will appear in the offer letter.

Part-time salaries are prorated based on the agreed number of regularly scheduled hours.

The role is eligible for performance-based incentive pay, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI), and may be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
