Description

The team is building a new peer review system to improve how scientific research is reviewed, using Agile methods.

You will work on individual pieces of work, plan the program flow of separate code units, write clean code and add unit tests.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship applications on a cloud-hosted distributed system, covering design, coding, testing and deployment.
  • Take part in architecture discussions and decisions that affect stability, scalability and performance.
  • Find and roll out changes to engineering habits and the delivery pipeline that raise quality and speed up releases.
  • Work with engineering, product, QA and DevOps colleagues on your Agile team to get good results for the business.
  • Talk with business stakeholders to pin down requirements, act on feedback, and ship user-focused solutions in a quick-moving setting.

Requirements

  • Show some proficiency in most of Java, JavaScript or TypeScript (with a framework such as React or Angular) and SQL, and be willing to learn the rest.
  • Have some hands-on experience with git or another version control system.
  • Enjoy working with teammates to build new solutions.
  • Be comfortable in a modern IDE such as IntelliJ or VS Code, and make good use of its refactoring tools.
  • Be open to discussing and refining how the team works.
  • Have some experience with test-driven development and mocking libraries such as Jest or Mockito.
  • Be familiar with collaborative documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Have real working knowledge of Agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Want to learn AI-based solutions or already have experience with them.
  • Keep growing your skills and experience.
