The company makes a compact solid-state radar that steers its beam electronically, and it works in all weather. Its radars serve autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft and drones, border and critical infrastructure security, smart cities, and airspace management including urban air mobility. The technology combines patented metamaterials with software, aiming for high performance at commercial prices.
The company is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for its Data Platform team, which is growing quickly.
Responsibilities
You will lead the team that builds and runs the services, data flows, and interfaces linking sensors and radars, through EchoWare, to cloud services and internal data systems.
You will move operational radar data securely into the company's data platform and turn those capabilities into reusable services for products and teams across the company.
You will stay hands-on enough to understand technical tradeoffs, ask pointed questions, and vet key decisions, while letting engineers and tech leads own detailed architecture and implementation.
You will hire, grow, and organize the people needed to deliver across edge and cloud systems.
You will turn broad product and business goals into clear technical priorities, balancing near-term needs against long-term platform investment.
You will lead delivery of connected systems that span edge processing, cloud services, and the interfaces between them.
You will deliver reliable shared services that other teams can depend on, with clear ownership and operating expectations.
You will treat the current platform as a base for future services, capabilities, and products.
You will set clear priorities, accountability, engineering practices, and operational maturity as the team grows.
Requirements
You have built cloud and distributed systems from scratch and know which parts must be built now, which need a solid foundation, and which can wait.
You have 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring, developing people, setting priorities, and holding people accountable.
You have built new systems, platforms, or products from the ground up while requirements and architecture were still changing.
You have a strong grasp of edge computing and cloud platforms, and hands-on experience building production services, APIs, distributed systems, and data pipelines, especially for data-heavy systems with real-time delivery.
You can assess architecture and design choices, spot risk and unnecessary complexity, and help teams reach practical technical decisions.
You have built shared platforms, APIs, or services that other engineering teams rely on.
You understand running production services, including reliability, availability, SLAs or SLOs, deployment, observability, and incident response.
You have a strong record of hiring and growing the talent needed to build and run complex systems.
You know how to balance immediate needs with longer-term platform foundations.
You have the technical depth and judgment to guide, challenge, and vet important engineering decisions.
You are comfortable leading teams that build edge processing and cloud services, and can guide delivery across the boundary between them.
You think strategically about how today's platform can become the foundation for wider services and capabilities.
You bring a security mindset to system design, covering authentication and device identity, encryption, access controls, tenant isolation, auditability, and handling sensitive customer data.
You act decisively, work well with ambiguity, and steer the team toward clarity and execution while keeping strategic alignment.
The technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government. As part of the application you will be asked whether you are a U.S. citizen, a green card holder, or hold asylum or refugee status in the U.S.
