Description

The company builds compact solid-state radars that steer their beam electronically and work in all weather. Its products serve autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft and drones, border and critical infrastructure security, smart cities, and airspace management including urban air mobility.

The company pairs patented metamaterial technology with software to produce a radar sensor priced for commercial buyers.

This role is a Software Engineer II position on the manufacturing test team. You will design test infrastructure, automated tests, and software-controlled test equipment for systems that use the company's radars.

You will work with an experienced cross-disciplinary group to build manufacturing and system-test solutions that are dependable and easy to maintain. You will write Python that talks to radar products, test fixtures, lab instruments, and manufacturing systems, record traceable results, and help engineers find the cause of failures faster.

You will own assigned software components on your own while working with software, radar, hardware, and manufacturing engineers on wider system designs. The role calls for solid software fundamentals and working knowledge of the reliability, repeatability, and maintainability that production test systems need.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and improve high-assurance, user-friendly software test components in Python.
  • Take part in design and code reviews for new and existing systems, give useful feedback, and help keep code quality high.
  • Help improve coding practices, testing methods, and development tools.
  • Support your team's testing work and work with partner teams when needed.
  • Work with radar, software, hardware, and manufacturing test engineers to build tests that confirm required functionality.
  • Create reliable, repeatable, maintainable automated tests for manufacturing and system-level verification.
  • Design software interfaces for test equipment, radar hardware, fixtures, and manufacturing systems.
  • Build capabilities for collecting test results, tracing them, logging, and diagnosing problems.
  • Investigate test failures with manufacturing, hardware, and radar engineers to tell product defects apart from test-system problems.
  • Help deploy, maintain, calibrate, and continuously improve manufacturing test stations.

Requirements

  • Experience building production-quality software, automated test applications, or manufacturing test systems.
  • Skill in writing maintainable Python applications.
  • Experience designing software that interfaces with hardware, external devices, or test equipment.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and sound engineering practices.
  • Experience with Git-based collaboration, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and resolving merge conflicts.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests and diagnosing failures across software and hardware boundaries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work across software, hardware, radar, and manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to deliver well-defined technical work on your own while asking for guidance on broader architecture decisions.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent military or industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience, designing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining production-quality software, test automation, or manufacturing test systems.
  • Desirable: Experience leading small technical efforts or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Desirable: Experience with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, QSPI, I2C, USB, SCPI, VISA, or TCP/UDP IP.
  • Desirable: Data analysis for test limits, yield, and failure trends.
  • Desirable: Experience packaging and deploying software with containers such as Docker. Container orchestration with Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Desirable: Experience developing tests for electronic RF hardware subsystems such as radar, electronic warfare, cellular, or other wireless technology.
  • Desirable: Experience automating lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers. Familiarity with DevOps concepts, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
  • Desirable: Experience developing or integrating multi-language systems using Python with C++, C, or Rust.
