Solutions Engineer - Critical Infrastructure

The company makes a compact solid-state radar that steers its beam electronically, built for use in all weather. It is used in autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft and drones, and in border, critical infrastructure and smart city security. The design combines patented metamaterial technology with software, aiming for high performance at commercial prices.

The company sells its radars to customers in automotive, transportation, critical infrastructure protection, border security, smart cities, uncrewed aircraft systems, and airspace management including urban air mobility.

The company is hiring a Solutions Engineer for its fast-growing team.

Responsibilities

• Work as a core member of the sales team, supporting customers and partners with technical help before and after a sale.
• Run on-site radar demonstrations at outside events, conferences, and partner or customer locations.
• Explain how the radar products add value to a partner's or customer's solution and application, helping build those relationships.
• Plan installations and integrations, carry out deployment setup and system tuning, and give ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.
• Keep existing and prospective customers and partners impressed during demonstrations.
• Analyse data and write reports after demonstrations.
• Create and maintain training materials, such as application notes and user manuals, to help grow the customer and partner base.
• Gather regular customer feedback and work with product managers and engineers to improve the products.
• Travel of up to 50% may be required.
• Take on other tasks the business needs.

Requirements

• Over 5 years in a technical role with sales quotas.
• A track record of learning a technical product and explaining its value to prospects.
• Personal integrity, trustworthiness, and respect when representing the company, demonstrating the product, answering questions, and communicating its value.
• Ability to juggle several tasks, work on your own, set priorities, follow the rules of engagement, and comply with policies, processes, and procedures.
• Resilience and a positive attitude, plus analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and strong at following up and making decisions.
• A solid technical base and good technical writing.
• Enthusiasm and strong customer communication, able to give both high-level overviews and deeply detailed explanations.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move equipment, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Preferred: experience coordinating work across teams and organizations.
• Preferred: experience on a sales team.
• Preferred: experience deploying or operating radar systems, especially electronically scanning array radars.
• Preferred: familiarity with a programming language, ideally Python or Matlab.
• Preferred: experience with Linux and a command line interface.
• Preferred: basic understanding of digital signal processing and how it applies to different sensor types. Direct radar signal processing experience is a bonus.
• Preferred: comfort troubleshooting hardware and software issues and working with customers to find root causes.
• Preferred: experience with basic data plotting and analysis.
• Preferred: bilingual in Spanish and English.

Conditions

Export-controlled technology: the company must assess each applicant's eligibility to access export-controlled information or obtain needed government authorizations, so the application asks whether you are a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or hold U.S. asylum or refugee status.

Exempt position with base plus variable pay, eligible for commission on top of base salary.

Base salary of $100,000 to $120,000 USD.
