Software Developer, Developer Platform

Description

You will help build the internal tools and systems that the company's tech teams depend on.

The role sits in Platform Engineering on the developer platform, which provides automated solutions, tooling and visibility to smooth internal development work.

The team builds full-stack applications that are used across the business, often working on both on-premise and Google Cloud Platform environments.

You will work to clearly defined specifications, with support from experienced senior engineers in a collaborative team that shares knowledge.

The company is an online gambling business founded in 2000. It employs over 10,000 people and serves over 120 million customers in 26 languages. Its In-Play betting handles more than 1.5 million bets per hour at peak and over 6 million HTTP requests a day.

Responsibilities

• Build robust, scalable applications and turn specifications into high-quality code that can be tested.
• Work with internal and external teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Take part in code reviews, following technical standards and encouraging good practice.
• Find, debug and fix application issues, and support system integration and testing.
• Provision cloud and infrastructure services through APIs and infrastructure as code.
• Join agile ceremonies and raise progress updates and blockers early.
• Keep up with emerging platform engineering technologies and trends to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Solid software engineering principles and a proven record in software development.
• Skill in at least one of Python, Go or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience containerising applications with Docker and orchestrating them with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and automation.
• Working knowledge of monitoring and logging tools including Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and good teamwork.
• Ability to turn complex requirements into clean code in an agile environment.
• Solid understanding of network and security technologies, including TCP, IP, routing and switching.
