Senior Backend Engineer - Risk Domain

Description

The company is a global technology business that helps people and companies move and manage money across borders. The team works in Platform Engineering and builds a centralised risk platform that brings together identity verification, fraud detection, compliance and related decision-making.

The platform sits between teams working on money movement, regional expansion and customer safety. It also provides a unified way to control which products each customer can access, according to regional compliance, risk and product rules.

The role is for a Senior Software Engineer who wants to build shared infrastructure that other teams depend on to ship features in global markets, without weakening trust or safety.

Responsibilities

• Own major projects that improve how the codebase is managed and how automation works across the company.
• Prototype ideas quickly with a rough first version, then rebuild the winning approach into robust, scalable tools.
• Work with platform engineers, product teams, engineering leads and product managers to deliver useful internal tooling.
• Review technical designs, give feedback on approaches, and help the team reach decisions based on data.
• Work alongside other engineers and help build a collaborative team culture.

Requirements

• Strong skills in a backend language such as Java, Python or Go.
• Experience building high-throughput systems and keeping them fast and reliable at scale.
• A keen interest in system design and thinking about platforms rather than single features.
• A drive to build infrastructure that helps other engineers, not only to ship your own code.
• Clear verbal and written communication, including explaining technical ideas to non-technical people.
• Experience in fintech or other high-trust fields such as risk, identity or compliance.
• Plus: experience with messaging systems such as Kafka.
